Kyoura was sitting on a rock near a hot spring, singing an ancient song known only to him. As the phoenix was nearing the end of his song, he sensed another presence approaching him.

"And what do I owe this pleasure, Sesshomaru?" Kyoura asked of the inu daiyoukai.

"This Sesshomaru heard your singing from a couple leauges away. It's really breathtaking, much like you," Sesshomaru said, blushing a tiny bit as he drew closer to the phoenix.

"Oh? You flatter me so, you sly dog," Kyoura took hold of Sesshomaru's hand. "How about you sing for me?"

"This Sesshomaru does not sing," he said bluntly.

"Not even for me? I'd be the only one in the audience," Kyoura cajoled.

"Fine, but on one condition. It will be in a secluded area with no one around for miles. This Sesshomaru does not wish for anyone else to even catch a ghost of a note," Sesshomaru said with a glare.

Kyoura thought he saw a hint of embarrassment flash in the golden gaze looking his way, but he couldn't be certain.

As they flew in search of a secluded area, Kyoura was still trying to figure out Sesshomaru's look. Was he embarassed?

"Kyoura."

"Yes?"

"You've become pensive about something."

"I'm just trying to ascertain your emotions earlier. I thought that it was a look of embarrassment, but since it was only a flicker across your gaze, I am uncertain. Were you?"

"Hng."

"So a yes?"

"Hng, this Sesshomaru cannot hide from you then. Yes, because this Sesshomaru doesn't know how to sing. This Sesshomaru has had no need of it before."

"I could give you a few pointers," Kyoura said with a flirtatious wink.

"You're not trying to seduce this Sesshomaru, are you?"

"Would I do that?"

"Kyoura, you know you would."

"Fine, fine, but it's only because you're so damn cute."

Soon they came to land in the thick of a heavily wooded area. Kyoura dropped the flirting and attempts at seduction and got to work on giving Sesshomaru singing lessons. He started with the basics, like the different notes in an octave. Once a week, they would meet in this place and Kyoura would give Sesshomaru another lesson.

After a few months, Kyoura was quite confident that Sesshomaru had mastered everything he had been taught.

"Sesshomaru, I'd like you to sing a song for me now," Kyoura said.

"What song would you like this Sesshomaru to sing?" Sesshomaru inquired.

"Whatever you wish," came Kyoura's reply.

Sesshomaru took a minute to compose himself, then began to sing.

Amatsu sora no kanata, itazurana ukigumo
kaeru yume wo nakushi, eien wo sasurafu
ame ga yamu made tsuka no ma yasuragi no memudi

Nandomo sou nando demo, furikazasu yaiba
amata no yume wa kizuguchi, shini somaru daichi
utedo naze ka munashii, isamu kiba wo kegashi
shukugou kara nogarerarenai

As Sesshomaru finished his verse, vermilion wings surrounded him.

"That was simply amazing!" Kyoura gushed, then leaned in to kiss Sesshomaru.

Sesshomaru stood there with nowhere to go. At first, he tried to fight off the affections of the crimson demon before him, but then he finally gave in to the touch of emerald lips upon his own. After a couple minutes, Sesshomaru broke away from the kiss.

"Kyoura?"

"Hmm?"

"It's late and Rin will start wondering where this Sesshomaru is."

"I suppose we could leave this for another time. You could sing me another song then," Kyoura said.

"Hn, perhaps," Sesshomaru said as he took to the skies.

Kyoura joined him and the two flew off into the night.
