I do not like, but rather, I admire
For like alone requires me to feel
The admiration follows eyes like fire
Intensity -- I wonder that they're real
I do not love, for love commands the heart
I much prefer to keep that place quite blank
For, though such eyes do ease and take apart
I'm not attached -- and have my mind to thank.
Not far below the eyes I so esteem
A lovely smile which often warms my soul
Of this kind face I could readily dream
And, yea, I would, if Inclinations's Whole
Were not so terrifying and intense
And Love's fair judge could listen to defense
