Go easy on me this is my first fanfiction so beware it might not be very good. Thanks for reading and I do not own N.C.I.S. just what my imagination comes up with.
Enjoy and review.

Today was hard enough as it was Dinozzo went and spilt his coffee and on top of it today it his dark day everyone knew when he was in a bad mood to leave him alone for today was the day his precious Shannon and Kelly dies. He was sanding his boat Kelly when he heard the familiar clicking of heels and the door closing. He knows she is there but all she gets is a glance before he goes back to sanding his boat. She knows that there is something wrong with him he has been in a bad mood all day. She knew that he wasn't telling her something.
"Jethro are you okay?"
" I'm fine Jen. Is there something you needed madam director?"
"Jethro" she said in warning "I just wanted to make sure you were okay you gave Dinozzo a good scare with how many times you had hit the back of his head for spilling your coffee."
"Yea Jen I'm fine today is just hard for me today is a day I really don't like remembering."
"How come Jethro?"
"I'm sorry Jen maybe you should sit down this is going to take a while."
"That's fine Jethro."
He sighed and turned around to his work bench to get to get out the pictures and handed them to jenny.
"They were my first wife and my daughter Kelly. I was in desert storm when it happened, Shannon my wife had witnessed a marine's murder and said she would testify against him. They were on the way back from Kelly's ballet practice when the driver was shot and killed instantly. Both Shannon and Kelly died from the impact of the crash." By the time he was finished Jenny could see tears running down his face as he wiped them away, she ignored them because that was what he obviously wanted
"Jethro how come you never told me, after all the years we knew each other."
"Because Jen it was something I needed to keep to myself since they were mine not even Ducky knows and I would like to keep it that way. " it wasn't long before his phone began to ring he looked at the number and saw that it was his dad he hit ignore.
"Jethro you could have answered that I wouldn't have minded."
"I know you wouldn't have Jen I just don't want to talk to him and could you leave it alone."
"Yeah Jethro I leave it alone."
"Thanks come on Jen I'll take you out for dinner then we can talk more."
They both walked up the stairs. He helped her put her coat back on before putting his on and went to open her door for her. They got to the restaurant and it was just like pairs no hard feeling just the playful banter that has always been there. Both Jethro and Jenny knew that it wasn't going to last long but Jenny got to see a side of Jethro no one has really seen beside Abby and herself, she knew that after tonight things might get better for them and hopefully they could have another chance to be with each other. Jethro knew that things were going to change after tonight he was looking forward to it, this could mean that they could have another chance to be together before something or someone tore them apart. He looked over at Jenny and smiled a rare true smile. Jen saw this from the corner of her eye and asked
"What's that smile for Jethro?"
"It's for nothing Jen, I'm just glad that we got to talk and work through some things. So you want to come back to mine or do you want me to drop you off at home?"
"Let's go back to your house I don't want this night to end."
As he drove back to his place the only thought that went through both of their minds was tonight was great just to be able to talk to each other without work or someone getting in their way and that they hoped they could do this again sometime soon.
