* ~Ugly Waldo's Story~ *
Chapter 1
My name is Ugly Waldo.
When I was born, my Mommy and Daddy looked at me with unkind expressions on their face. They looked down at me in disgust and hatred. They were bewildered at how ugly I looked.
Mommy then started to talk to a nurse that was in the room. Mommy asked the nurse, "How could this child possibly be ours? It is hideous, I can't bare to look at it. Two highly attractive cats can not produce a hideous animal such as this one."
I had not been offended. I did not know what most of the words that she had been saying at the time meant. But now I do.
The nurse shrugged. "I am highly positive that the child belongs to you. I do not recall switching your baby with another immediately after birth. This is your child." She said.
Mommy looked crestfallen. Daddy looked deeply upset, a slight frown set upon his face. I did not know why they looked so sad. I had been thinking at the time, "What is wrong with me? Do they not like me?". I was confused. I was only an infant, I did not understand.
The nurse instructed Mommy and Daddy on what to do. They had to name me, and sign some papers about custody and such. Mommy and Daddy reluctantly agreed, and ended up naming me Ugly Waldo. They signed the papers, and I had wondered, "Why Ugly Waldo? While it has a nice ring to it, why Ugly, and not Silly, or Prince, or even Professor?" Almost as soon as I had thought about my name, I dropped the matter. When Mommy and Daddy were done with everything, we were ready to go home.
Mommy held me in her lap while Daddy drove their Jeep. I had no car seat, so I had to be in Mommy's lap. I guess Mommy had limitation to her hatred, since she did not risk my safety.
Mommy would occasionally talk to Daddy about me. Mommy would say things like, 'I guess his ugliness isn't a great deal. It hopefully will not interfere with any talents he might obtain. He might be great when he's older. We should hang on to him just in case' or 'He isn't all that bad, you know?' I was glad that Mommy was warming up to me, even though I had been ugly.
We arrived at home, and I was awestruck. It was a beautiful house, and I would be living in it for most of my life. I would be happy there, I had thought to myself.
This was just the beginning of my life. I am ready to tell you my life, part by part, word by word. This is my story.
To be continued~
