Dear Journal,

I don't really know why I'm doing this, but when I left Dalton, the counselor there said it might be a good idea. Um, so basics? Since it's like I'm writing to a friend, I have to introduce myself. My name's Sam Evans, I'm 16, and I really like comic books. Tomorrow's my first day at this new school in Lima called William McKinley High School. After 15 years of going to all boys schools, this'll definitely be something interesting. I'm scared that some of the kids might make fun of my dyslexia, but thankfully autocorrect will keep my texts and typed assignments looking alright. Is it weird that I'm also scared of being around all those girls, too? I mean sure, we had all of those socials with our sister school, but it's totally not the same thing. Walking the hallways with them and sitting in classes, I'm not sure if I'd actually be able to concentrate, you know?

Okay, so continuing my introduction. I still live with my parents, their names are Dwight and Mary. I have two younger siblings, Stevie and Stacey, and a dog, Fluffy. Stacey named him, I had nothing to do that with. He's a golden retriever, and he's kind of my best friend. My parents got him a couple of years ago when they told me at first that we were moving to Ohio. Ohio, of all places. I grew up in Tennessee, the home of Graceland and my Idol, Elvis. He's the one that got me into singing, and my dad's the one who taught me how to play guitar. I guess I like music because I don't have to worry about my dyslexia when it comes to reading music.

Well, this is all for the day. Hopefully I'll remember to write tomorrow. I'm sure I will; first days are always exciting, so I guess we'll see!

Goodbye then,

Sam.
