I like to think Hal was always faithful to Lois, but Mike/Hal's bromance was the best. ヽ(*^ー^)人(^ー^*)ノ
Just a stupid little drabble~
Hal snuck out of his house, almost tripping over a squeaky toy. He ran to the fence and threw a small pebble that bounced off the glass window, coaxing his neighbor and new best friend, Mike, to come out of his house. Both, in their pajamas and robes, sat by the fence. They cracked open a beer and tapped it to the fence as to say cheers.
"You still have to go to Dayton," asked Hal
"Yeah, but it's only a couple of days," retorted Mike, quickly. "How was your presentation?"
"Oh, great. Your joke killed." But then Hal turned contrite. "Look at us. We've been reduced to sneaking around at night. A man should be able to talk to his best friend in daylight."
"Did you say 'best'", asked Mike, caught off guard.
Hal felt so stupid, revealing his feeling so early in the friendship. "I should go," he said, taking one last swig of his beer.
Hal got up to leave, but Mike had reached over the fence to try to grab Hal. He succeeded in barely grabbing his shoulder. "Wait, Hal."
"No, Mike! We'll get caught," hissed Hal.
Ever since the new neighbors invited the Wilkerson's over for a barbeque that went bad, their families have been feuding. And Hal's and Mike's friendship had been forbidden.
"Please, Hal. Just a few more minutes."
Hal gave in because he was a complete sucker for Mike's puppy eyes that were barely visible over the fence.
A few seconds later Mike had snuck over to the Wilkerson's yard. They met in a hug, but curtly yet quickly pulled away after the hug had lingered.
"I'm straight," reminded Mike.
"Me too," said Hal quickly.
All in a flash, Mike was pushing Hal up against the side of the house, kissing him. Hal resisted for a second, but gave in and snaked his hands through Mike's short hair. Mike threw Hal's robe open and reached under his shirt, feeling his way around Hal's abdomen.
"Hal?" Lois called from inside the house.
Hal let go of Mike in a gasp.
"Go, quickly," warned Hal.
Mike hesitated but ran off to his house, and Hal did the same.
Little did they know, the following day Mike would have to move away.
The next morning, Hal leaned against the cab that Mike was in.
"I'm really sorry about you and Tina," soothed Hal.
Mike reached out the window and handed Hal a small white box.
Mike's cab rode off, leaving Hal alone on the street. The last thing Mike had left Hal to remember him by-a mix tape.
but really, when Mike gives Hal the mix tape at the end...my heart be hurtin ಥ_ಥ
