Santana woke up with a start. She remembered immediately: This is the day of the reaping. She lived in District 2 in Panem. Bells started ringing, signifying the start of the reaping. Santana ran to the square. She decided she was going to do this.
A Capital "escort" started immediately.
"Ladies first!" She purred, pleasing many Capital residents watching at home.
She put her left hand in the glass jar that held the names of the future tributes. She waved it around a bit, and selecting a folded piece of paper. She walked back to the microphone.
"Annabeth Mellark!" She announced. The crowd searched for the person that matched the name. When they found the terrified tribute, she ran up the stairs, trembling. Sadly, Santana had to wait until the boy's names where called to volunteer. The escort walked to the boy's glass.
"Ooh, who will be the lucky winner?" She said, as if it was a great honor.
She picked the "lucky winner" and walked back to the mic again.
"Kurt Hummel!" She said. Annabeth immediately hyperventilated at the sound of that name.
"Now, any volunteers for AnnaBeth Mellark?" The resident said hopefully.
"ME! I VOLUNTEER!" Santana yelled.
"Well, it appears we have a volunteer! Give it up for Santana...what's your last name, honey?"
"Lopez. " Santana said.
"Santana Lopez!" the escort said, " Now, any volunteers for Kurt Hummel?"
There was silence in the District 2 square. Kurt started sobbing.
