One Pain
By Phoebe Simon
His world halted that day, his world completely still,
And he wondered if the Sparrow inside would ever sing again.
He looked to see his pain melt with nothing but a pill.
Even with faith in god he could never truly abstain,
From his truth.
One life, one boy, one love, one pain,
Meaningless.
Would that the sparrow would sing again
To lift the young boy's emptiness.
A contract he had sworn to obey
Really meant nothing but the heat of fiery salvation,
The hell that softly called to him, luring him away.
One life, one boy, one love, one pain,
All were but one.
Leaving the trivial things behind would mean happiness would be won.
A glass of wine is naughty, and rewards will cease to grow,
And the boy he once was will care no more.
One life, one boy, one love, one pain,
Were all but one and alone.
Would that those who loved him would show their faces again.
Perhaps they would be seen if his crimes were to be atoned.
A butler was sworn to love and care
In return for a soul.
Ciel was nothing now.
His soul held value no more.
He would no allow the demon Sebastian, the delicacy of his life.
He would take it himself.
He watched as his pain would melt with nothing
But a Pill.
