She keeps the door closed and her stereo playing to drown out the sound of her sobs. Her face is streaked in tears and her pillow is soaked. She'd pushed too hard… pushed him away. It's her fault and she is devastated.
Occasionally her sobs die down and she sits up, staring into space. She clenches her fists, nails digging into her skin as she beats her mattress. She was all in and she was worried. He's doing drugs and she is furious.
After everything they've been through it doesn't seem real. She wraps her arms around herself as fresh tears stream down her cheeks. She curls up in bed, her head on her wet pillow as she misses him and hates him and loves him all at once.
Eventually she falls into a fitful sleep as she tosses and turns and whispers his name into the dark.
The pressure is so intense he can't help seeking release. He's floating in a sea of hands as colors fly around him and stars dance in his eyes. He is running around the school, feeling so powerful that nothing can touch him or bring him down.
He's walking toward the greenhouse. He doesn't want to go back there, but deep down knows he will be okay. It is empty and there's no blood and he lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
He is back at the school but now feels powerless. He catches a glimpse of her hair and the echo of her voice. He keeps searching and running but he cannot find her and in the end he is lost.
He wakes with her name on his lips and his hand reaching out but he is alone in the dark.
