Distance

Disclaimer - I own the characters about as much as I own a fire-breathing octopuss with twenty tenticles that can fly into the clouds and take me along with it. So, in other words, keep dreaming.

Pairing - LuxordVexen, an obvious OTP for me.

IV.X

To a Nobody, distance meant absolutely nothing.

The Chilly Academic sighed, placing the beakers in his hands on the work-table in front of him. Jade-green orbs traveled over the mountains of paperwork and instructions, flasks and vials of chemicals littering his work space. A shaking hand went up to brush away the blonde bangs that drifted haphazardly across his face.

"Is there something bothering you, Number Four?"

The elder Nobody stiffened before sighing once more. It was only Zexion. Of course it wouldn't be his love coming to bug him as he worked. The slate-haired teen gazed at his colleague over the rim of his enormous tome. "Everything is just wonderful, Zexion. Thank you for your concern."

"Then do you not believe you should be getting back to your studies before Marluxia decides he feels the need to see your creations?"

"So, I am not entitled to a break?"

Vexen was clenching his fists by his side, glaring down at the multi-colored liquids as they floated lazily in their containers. "What you care to do is your own concern. I'm just advising you to keep up your work ethic or you may be punished."

"I don't see you working," the blonde snapped.

"You are blind, then. Do you not see the research sprawled out in front of me?"

Ignoring the snotty brat, Vexen turned from his own research. "I'm leaving for a bit. I guess I'll be back later."

"You shall be leaving Castle Oblivion, then?"

He refused to answer, knowing the slate-haired Nobody already knew what his actions would be. Summoning a portal to the darkness, Vexen left the slightly amused Schemer behind in the laboratories. He found his destination, Havoc's Divide, easily enough. Even though it was in a completely different dimension.

"Come for a visit, Four?"

Feeling himself fall into bliss with the hands moving over his hips to pull him closer to their owner, Vexen smirked, leaning back into the embrace. An older blonde matched that smirk, brushing his lips against the Academic's throat. "What brings you around here, babe?"

"Looking for a stress reliever."

"Strip poker always does the trick for me." Luxord laughed lightly as Vexen groaned.

"Yeah, because you cheat and never have to worry about exposing yourself," the younger huffed, pouting. The Gambler nipped at his ear seductively.

"Then let's skip the poker and head straight into the strip."

Vexen moaned at the prospect.

Really, what is distance to a Nobody that can sift through the worlds?
