"It's just not fair, why did this have to happen?" Raena sputtered out blood as she spoke, her closed eyes twitching frantically from the falling rain.

"Raena I'm sorry… But don't worry you're going to be fine. After all that's happened, after all this time. I won't let it end here!" Lazla shot back. Raena was on her back on the cold ground, Lazla beside her on her knees, pure mayhem unraveling around them. Were things really going to be fine? She was hurt and so many things happening with no one to account for it all. Screams, clanks, and scraping metal filling the air, a war was happening.

Raena could remember back when she had just met Lazla. It was about twelve years ago, both of them young only about six winters in their days. They were best of friends, everyone knew them and some even said they could be sisters other than the fact they had different color eyes and fur. Yes, fur, they were fox-like, having a typically fox-like head, ears, muzzle, and full and active tail. Their bodies were, for the most part, hominid-like. Legs, torso, feet, and hands were all normal and typical for their kind. Raena was a full coat of black with bright violet eyes. Lazla was a bright shade of blue with green shining eyes. Although soon after those times, things changed, drastically.

"As long as we win this war, I will have no regrets." Raena let out weakly. She held her hand on her blood matted stomach; she had been slashed deeply by a serrated blade which tore straight through the padded leather armor she had on. She shouldn't have let her guard down one of the first things she learned in basics.

"Don't you even dare speak of anything saying that you're going to die." Lazla tore out her white cotton shirt from under her plated leather armor. "I'll just bandage it up and get you out of here to a real medic." She wrapped her shirt around Raena's stomach under her armor and tied it tight creating a make-shift bandage. Then placed her arms under Raena's shoulders and knees to lift her up, her battle hardened and conditioned body easily enduring Raena's light weight. Raena felt like she was being lifted into another world.

"I'm glad to have you as a friend Lazla, glad to have everything I have now." Raena spoke leaning her head against her shoulder as she was carried back through the battle as their own troops moved forward.

"I doubt your glad to have that wound," Lazla chuckled out, "But be quiet, don't speak its just going to make things worst." They stayed quiet as Lazla carried her for not too long through the pouring rain before ending up at a small tent. Lazla rushed inside and set her down on a cleared table.

"I can't feel anything, except this pain. I wish it would just go away." Raena could barely whisper.

"CAN I GET A MEDIC!?" Lazla screamed out at the top of her lungs.
