AN: This is what I hope would've happened between the Phantom and Christine with it still fitting with the story. Hope you like it

I don't own Phantom in case you were wondering

"Say you'll love me every waking moment
Turn my head with talk of summer time
Say you need me with you now and always
Promise me that all you say is true
That's all I ask of you"

Christine heard herself tell this to Raoul, but it was not for him to hear. No, it was for her Angel. She knew he was there, and she prayed that he would know her words were for him. Raoul continued to profess his love for her, to tell her he'd be with her, and she continued to say the same to the Phantom. Raoul kissed her, pulling her into his arms. Christine kissed her Angel.

Please know that this is for you, I love you.

"Past the point of no return
The final threshold
The bridge is crossed
So stand and watch it burn
We've passed the point of no return."

She knew it was him, and she was happy. She needed him to take her back with him, but how?

"Say you'll share with me
One love, one lifetime
Lead me, save me from my solitude"
I promise you that I will, if you forgive me.
"Say you want me
With you here
Beside you
Anywhere you go
Let me go too
Christine that's all I ask of…"

She tore the mask from his face, knowing that he would take her with him. But then they were falling, falling, and she couldn't remember what the ground felt like.

"I'm- I'm sorry. I wanted you to take me back to your-" she searched for the right word for his lair "home. I didn't realise we would fall."

"I am taking you back. You are in shock Christine. If you have forgotten my… lair…" he smiled slightly "is under the opera house."

"Oh, good." And he pulled her into his arms so that she would land safely.

Her head was resting in the crook of his neck, her legs entwined with his own. He could not imagine anything more perfect than having Christine where she was now, asleep in his bed, happy to be with him. He knew it could not last, he knew she would have to go back, but he had the few previous hours to stave off his loneliness for a few years. He caught a lock of her hair between his fingers, and Christine stirred.

"How are you?" He stroked the smooth skin of her cheek with the back of his hand, secretly craving that on his "Devil's face".

"Happy." Christine smiled into his neck.

"I thought so. So am I." He tilted her face up to his. "Before you leave," Christine began to object but he silenced her with a finger over her lips "I have to tell you that I love you."

"I love you too, so why must I go?" Her face was fury and sorrow and so many other emotions all at the same time.

"People will miss you, they love you. I am evil, I am hated, so there is no way they will let you stay here."

"Then we can leave together. Please, I don't know what I'll do without you." She had begun to cry silently.

"We shall act it out my Angel. I have captured you, that is all you need to know. Be distraught." He wiped the tears from her cheeks with his thumb. "Marry the boy and be happy. He will do his best to make you so."

"How can I be happy without you? With him?" She buried her face in his chest.

"Think of me." He kissed the top of her head.

"But I don't want to be free." It was barely a whisper, broken by sobs.

"Act for me. Maybe in the future we will meet again, but not here."

"I shall be waiting." She looked up at him and ran her fingers across his damaged features. He drew in a sharp breath, kissed her softly, and went to find her wedding dress.
