"Tilly, Tilly I did it!" Belle yowled. Her sister's brown tabby pelt popped out from behind Their housefolk's nest.
"What?" Tilly mewed as she padded towards her sister. Belle's blue eyes shone with pride as Tilly aproched.
"I did it!," She boasted. "I finally did it!"
Tilly tilted her head as her sister twitched with boundless energy.
"Look, I dug a big enough hole for us to escape this mad house!" Belle said with a hint of a growl to her voice. Tilly felt a rush ofpride for her smaller littermate. Their housefolk was somewhat abusive to the two cats, and now that Tilly and Belle could escape it felt like the world was tilting.
"What are we waiting for!" Belle hissed. The small brown tabby shoved her sister through the opening with her forepaws. Tilly squeezed her body into the narrow hole before wiggling out on the other side. Belle followed with envious grace. Her smaller body and shorter fur made it much easier for her to slide through the fence.
Tilly flicked the dirt from Belle's shoulders away with her tail before staring in awe at the beutiful forest that lay between them.
"Tilly," Belle mewed with a spark in her eyes. "It's beautiful!" The little brown tabby bolted into the woods without another word.
"Belle!" Tilly hissed, runningfor her sister. Tilly hissed in fury as the brambles on the forest floor snagged her longer tabby pelt. She jumped over bramble bushes, dodging fallen logs and low hanging branches.
Tilly huffed for breath as she ran at full speed for her ongoing sister.
"Belle!" Tilly yowled, still running. "Stop, wait for me!" She gasped.
"No way!," Belle meowed back. "This is the best day of my life!"
Belle leaped on top of a mass pile of boulders, stopping finally at the top. Tilly fell in a heap of matted fur as she gasped for air. Belle slowly breathed in as a soft summer wind blew her short fur.
"Oh Tilly,"Belle sighed, climbing down to sit beside her fatigued sister. "It's beutiful."
Belle softly picked the barbs out of Tilly's fur and groomed her muddy, sore paws.
Tilly rolled on her back and softly purred.
"Hmm, no more housefolk, nasty pellets, and screaming housefolk kits."
"Yeah, lets promise never to go back there again."
"Promise." Tilly purred, licking her sister's head.
A soft ratteling sound came from the rock pile.
"What's that?" Belle asked, pricking her ears. The sound became louder until a long scaley animal slithered out of a small crack. It was brown with darker diamond-shaped spots on it's back.
"Belle get back!" Tilly hissed. She didn't know what this think was, but somehow she knew it was dangerous.
"Hah, I can take him!" Belle small tabby leaped without warning and bit into the creature's back. The brown animal hissed and striked at Belle with lighting-fast speed.
"OW!" Belle hissed as the creature bit into her neck.
"Belle!" Tilly hissed. She pinned the animal down on the neck so it wouldn't strike her too. "Belle are you okay?"
Tilly looked on in horror as her sister twitched on the ground. The animal must have venom!
Tilly bit the creature's neck until she heard a loud crack; the animal was dead. Belle hissed and twitched as foam formed around her mouth.
"Belle!" Tilly yowled. Her sister was dying!
