A/N My Mum and I were watching Quarantine and you don't see Katie Brown after that episode, and we think that she goes back to Earth, and it gave me an idea, so I went and wrote this.

A brief glimpse of Katie Brown after Atlantis

It felt weird, like no job could ever be better after Atlantis. I still thought about people back there and I wonder whether I'd get told if Atlantis got destroyed, I guess I wouldn't, it'd be nice to know, but hopefully I'll get e-mailed.

I've been emailing Dr Parrish (with his ever growing crush on Major Lorne) on the progress of the Rodneyanavalosa to see how that and some of my other projects have been going on.

I've finally settled into my new job, it's not as exciting as Atlantis, but it pays well. I tend to spend my lunch hour, after I've eaten, out on the bench by the newish green building along the road.

This particular lunchtime, I was thinking about how much I missed the mess hall – the food that didn't seem to be food, and the noise of over 100 grown adults in the same place at the same time. As I was thinking about this, a shadow crossed over me, and then it came back and stopped, blocking out the sun. I looked up.

A man was looming over me. He introduced himself as Matt Marbury, and I remember him as the guy who lived next door, perfect in the eyes of everyone at school, whereas I was seen as quiet and probably a bit of a loner.

He seemed surprised to see me and I wouldn't've expected to see anyone from home in this end of the country. But then, humans can get anywhere, I've been to Pegasus!

We ended up chatting, he mentioned he was visiting the senator and was very inquisitive about what could possibly be classified for a botanist, and rather scathing about the usefulness of botany and acting as though he was vaguely trying to hide it. Not that he was succeeding. When he started to boast about his law degree from Harvard, and his upcoming meeting with the Joint Chiefs, the whole time I was sat there feeling delighted about the fact that I had had the chance to get unique experiences and he would never get the chance to work shoulder to shoulder with heroes. Working in an environment like Pegasus changes a person, and as I stood and excused myself I gave him one parting sentence.

"My last job changed me for the better, an experience you do not have the chance to do. See you around Matt Marbury." And with that, I turned and left my head full of unsung heroes and I clocked back in 5 minutes before I was due back. I think the Pegasus Galaxy gave me a little more confidence in myself.
