In an attempt to distract Bird Brain long enough for the other T.U.F.F. agents to apprehend him, Dudley and Kitty resort to doing a zany dance routine. A parody of the routine in the Friends episode The One With The Routine. Set near the end of the series. Written in response to the dance-off scene in the DM reboot episode, We Aren't Family. Oneshot.

Just the other day, managed to watch the DM reboot episode on KimCartoon, where DM and Squawkencluck posed as a married couple and took part in a dancing competition to win an artifact so that they could secure it. Also watched the Friends clip on The Routine and realized that the almost 20-year-old episode was still relevant.

This fanfic is set during the short season 3. Therefore, it would be around end-2014.

It was at a taping for a countdown party. The T.U.F.F. agents Dudley Puppy and Kitty Katswell were infiltrating the stage, for the agency received intel that Bird Brain was spotted with his henchmen, apparently with an agenda. Dudley and Kitty were at the dance floor. Even though they appeared to be dancing, Kitty was sulking.

"Man, this sucks! Bird Brain's getting away, and we can't do anything about it!"

"Why don't we distract him?"

"How do we do that?"

"We do a dance that would get so much attention, he will stop to take a look."

"-giving the others time to catch him! But, what kind of dance would get his attention?"

"What do you mean?"

"Get him to stop and take a look." she replied sarcastically.

Dudley thought for a while, before an idea struck him, literally. As in, a lightbulb flew in from nowhere and knocked him on the head, dropping him to the floor. "I got it." He said, off-screen, "The Routine!"

"But that has not been performed in 15 years!"

"It has an honorable mention in the funny dance category." He paused for a short while. "Look, it's almost fake midnight. Do we have have another chance at this?"

Kitty then looked at him. "Let's do it."

They then went to a highly visible area of the stage, just below the dance platforms. Dudley got Kitty to face him, before they started counting up, "5, 6, 7, 8..."

Bird Brain, who was on a gangway above the stage, turned to look at the dance floor, as Dudley and kitty started The Routine. It involved Dudley leapfrogging Kitty, followed by them flapping their arms like chickens, and other zany stuff that doesn't go on any dance floor. Eventually, they executed a big finish, which mesmerized even Bird Brain.

"What kind of a dance is that?" he asked himself, before turning only to find himself surrounded by various T.U.F.F. agents.
