A/N: This randomly came to mind, and I think it turned out cute.

"Like dis daddy?" Mark Sloan's four year old daughter asked him as she twisted her small shoe laces in different directions.

Mark sighed, but he couldn't help but smile at her. His wife was at a meeting. He was glad he had chosen advertising as a career instead of a teacher. According to his wife, those meetings were pointless. "Sammy, no, see you put the lace through the hole." He said demonstrating with his own shoe laces.

They both were sitting on the floor, each having one of their own shoes in front of them on the floor of the living room.

Samantha twisted her laces again, in a different direction, but ended up getting it knotted, but not in a knot. "Like dat?"

Mark smiled at his daughter. "How about we try again, but with another shoe?" He took the shoe in front of her and replaced it with the other matching shoe.

Samantha took the shoe laces in her hand and looked up at her father. Her blue eyes filled with wonder.

Mark undid the shoe laces in front of him. He decided to go for a different approach, a simpler one he hoped she would understand. "Take one lace in each hand and make an X." He demonstrated with his laces. He smiled when he saw that his daughter did the same. "Good."

Samantha giggled and waited for her father to continue.

"Draw the top lace through the bottom of the X and pull the two laces tight." Mark said slowly and demonstrating as he said it.

Samantha bit her bottom lip in thought before trying to follow her father's instructions. After a few moments of struggling she did what her father did. "I did it!"

Mark nodded with a smile. "Yes you did. Now the last step is to make a loop out of each lace." He demonstrated once again.

Samantha tried again to follow her father's instructions. It took her longer than before to get it but she did. She smiled at her finished product. "Bunny ears!" She said happily.

Mark chuckled at his blonde haired child.

Samantha looked up, over her father's head to see her mother. "Mommy look!" She held up her tied shoe. "I tied my shoe!"

Mark looked behind him and smiled at his wife.

Izzie smiled at her daughter. "Yes you did!" She laughed lightly at her daughter's enthusiasm. "Now, why don't you get cleaned up so we can make cookies!"

Samantha practically jumped up. "Yeah! Yeah!" She almost bolted for the stairs to go to the bathroom to wash her hands.

Mark watched his daughter go up the stairs. He got up off the floor and stood up.

Izzie smiled at her husband. "Hi."

Mark smiled and walked towards her. He leaned down and kissed her softly on her lips. "Hi."

"I see you taught her how to tie her own shoes." Izzie said looking towards the shoes on the carpet in the living room.

Mark nodded. "I did, and you are going to make cookies with her." He said putting his hands on her waist.

Izzie shook her head. "No, we are going to make cookies with her." She said putting her arms around his neck.

Mark nuzzled his nose against hers. "Really?"

Izzie nodded and met him halfway in a kiss.

"Now, I am going to get the supplies out, so why don't you go help our daughter?" Mark asked giving her another kiss on her lips.

Izzie smiled. "Sounds like a plan." She kissed him before taking her arms off him and making her way upstairs.

Mark smiled as he watched his wife walk upstairs. As he watched her, he knew he wouldn't change a thing.
