Arms of An Angel
Disclaimer: the song this story was inspired by is Angel
by Sarah McLachlan. :)
Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always some reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memories seep from my veins
let me be empty
oh and weightless then maybe
I'll find some peace tonight.
Evening sunlight poured carelessly through the wisps of curtains that sheltered the windows. The essence of dusk filled the air and crept through the small crack in the windowpane. A warm summer breeze swept effortlessly into the room and danced across Hermione's face as she lay upon the sheets of white cotton.
Harry entered the room and closed the door, walking over towards the bed where she lay. He hovered over her, his eyes resting on her closed ones, his body exhausted from a long day of work. His raven hair tumbled down his face and was highlighted in golden sunlight, casting what could have been a halo around his hair.
He touched his finger tips to her eyelids, beckoning them to open. When they did, deep honey stared up at him and smiled.
"Hey." Hermione said softly, bringing her hand up to cup his face. He met it halfway up and brought it to his lips, kissing it gently.
"Shh..." Harry muttered softly, cupping her face in his hands and kissing her softly. He felt her begin to retreat and responded by crushing onto her lips even harder. Her lips were soft and delicate, and his were needy and hungry. He felt inspired by the feeling and passionately continued to explore her mouth.
"Harry-" Hermione said, backing away and looking up at him, a smirk on her face. He smiled at her and touched his forehead to hers, closing his eyes and relaxing for that brief moment.
"I missed you today." Harry said quietly, moving back and staring into her eyes. Hermione smiled and kissed his nose gently.
"I missed you too." she replied, grinning. "Come."
She motioned for him to lay down next to her, and when he did she wrapped him up in her arms.
"You don't have to do this-" Harry began, questioning her.
"Shh...let me mother you for once." Hermione said with a smile, gathering him closer in her arms, listening to the soft sounds of his breathing and heart beat.
In the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you feel
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here.
The sun set beyond the mountain tops, the horizon glowing bright red and orange, filling the sky with serenity in color. Lazy clouds drifted through the sky, sweeping away fear and depression through every inch of painted heaven.
The room grew dark, the sunlight now absent and the breeze now cool. Harry turned over and wrapped his arms around Hermione's waist, bringing her closer to him. Kissing her forehead, he paused and just relished in the moment.
"Harry?" Hermione asked softly, moving her head to look up at him.
"Mmm." he replied, half asleep in his reverie.
"I love you."
Harry opened his eyes and looked down at her, smiling prominantely. "I love you too."
Their eyes melted into one another, and clutching her closer, Harry rested his chin on her head.
Hermione nestled her head in the crook of his neck and fell comfortably into his embrace, feeling warm and safe in his arms.
Their minds drifted into slumber, exhausted from a long day. Wrapped up in eachother's arms, they fell into deep and eternal bliss...in the arms of heaven and it's angels.
In the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you feel
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here.
