This small drabble came out of the blue in my head so it doesn´t really have more context than snowy cold night at the Montgomery Memorial. Have fun~~

The meaning of a five pointed star
"Are you with me?" I hear a soft whisper in the middle of the night. If I hadn't been awake already, I probably wouldn't have heard it. I shift to make space for Valerie in the couch, but she doesn't seem to notice. It's a cold night, like most of them here in Alaska, and I rub one of my eyes sleepily. I was just about to fall asleep, but I can't risk a patient's life...
"Barely. Is there an emergency?" she laughs softly, musically, and shakes her head
"I didn't want to wake you, I was just making sure, you didn't look like you were totally asleep. Is there any space for me in there? It looks cozy" I shrug
"Sure" she sits beside me and slowly lays down. It takes us a minute or so, but we end up finding a comfortable position for both. My arm and her head will probably hurt tomorrow, but if that's the only part of us sore, then we can consider ourselves lucky. It's not like hospital couches are made for sleeping, so... She hums and presses herself onto me. She's cold, and I hiss when her fingers graze my hands. She pulls them away quickly.
"Sorry." I don't say anything, and she holds her hands to her chest "Goodnight, Markus."
"Night, Val..."
"Ah, if I may..." a question? Now? I turn my head away a bit to yawn, and then nod, letting my face press into her hair afterwards. It's soft, but cold.
"Yeah?"
"Does you healing touch have anything to do with stars?" where did that come from, I can't help but wonder. But she's right, and I nod again, in silence, thinking about how to explain it better. "The book said something about a five pointed star. How does that help?"
"I've told you a few times that it requires a lot of concentration... I usually meditate to achieve that. Stars, and nature in general, are a common topic for meditation. I've always seen it like that, but I've heard it's different for everybody. Try to find a meaning of your own, one that you carry close to heart, and you might find something to help yourself concentrate." I'm barely whispering, but her ear is just under my mouth, and she hums an affirmative answer as I fall quiet. I'm almost falling asleep again when I hear her reply.
"I'm afraid I'll never find it. What if it's just not possible? I've never heard of a doctor that has learnt how to use it. Everybody I know of just, one day, used it. Just because. That's not very helpful to my cause." I try to shrug and then I remember she's in my arms. I take her cold fingers between mines to stop them from their wriggling.
"I'm not very good at reassurance, but if I must, then you should know I consider you a very skilled doctor as you already are, Val. You don't need a Healing Touch to earn anyone's respect. You're very talented, and you shouldn't doubt yourself in this aspect. Specially not at this hours at night." her giggles let me know she's blushing, probably flustered, and I detect a hint of proudness. That's better, I guess. She doesn't answer right away, and when she does, I'm glad she's not waiting for an answer because I have none, not to that.
"You always know how to calm me down... It's too bad you're not a five pointed star, Markus."
