CHAPTER 1: A New Journey
Landon's POV
Ring Ring… Ring Ring… Rin-. I turned my alarm off. I woke up earlier than I usually do. I knew why. It was my 16th birthday and Professor Lily was going to give me two new Pokémon that I can call my own. Sure, I already had Joey, a Growlithe dad sent me while he was venturing out in Kanto, but he wasn't for battling, he was just a pet. I wanted to become the Champion of the Kaoru Islands, so to do so, I need some battling Pokémon.
Professor Lily had a vast collection of Pokémon that she said I could have. But only two, she didn't want me to be greedy. And Katy had to pick two Pokémon of her own as well. Katy has been my best friend, and rival, since I moved to the Islands from Unova 14 years ago. Her birthday was two days before mine, so she'd always use to brag that she was older than me and had superiority. She loved dressing up, and even dragged me and Joey in to dress up with her. When she first saw a Pokémon coordinating contest in Sinnoh, she knew she wanted to be a top Pokémon coordinator and travel to Sinnoh to participate in contests with two of the top coordinators in the world, Dawn, who is also the champion in Sinnoh, and Fantina, who is a Ghost-type Gym Leader, also in Sinnoh.
I quickly bathed, got dressed, and brushed my teeth, and headed downstairs. Mom was waiting for me with a big birthday breakfast that I never got in my life. Pancake towers, small buildings made out of eggs, and small ship ports made of bacon with syrup seas. I immediately knew what mom did. She perfectly replicated my hometown, Castelia City, using breakfast ingredients. "Happy birthday, my sweet little Landon!" she said, coming towards me readying her barrage of hugs and kisses. Joey must have saved my life because he burst through his doggy door and jumped on me, happily barking. I guess he knew it was my birthday as well.
I was surprised at how fast I ate. It was like the Tasmanian Devil ripping through the White Village. Beside the point, after eating breakfast, I kissed my mom one last time before heading out to first Katy's house, and then Professor Lily's laboratory. I was about to go on my very own adventure in the Kaoru Islands.
