Just a Drink
Finally; time for a drink. With a happy sigh Tonks stepped into the Three Broomsticks. She greeted Rosmerta with a smile and a nod of the head before she walked to the back of the little pub. Tonks was glad that the pub was still open at 2 in the morning. Night. Whatever time it was.
It had been a long night. She had been patrolling the grounds of the castle for sixth hours with just a little break around 10 o'clock. Normally she didn't go to the pub after work, but today… She had received word that Remus had been sent to the werewolf colonies. The young witch was frightened. What if the other werewolves would see through him and shut him out, or even worse kill him. A cold shiver went down her spine and she quickly sat down in the empty pub.
She was glad that Rosmerta interrupted her thoughts and after a short conversation she ordered a fire whisky. All she wanted to do was drown her misery. It wasn't just the fact that she was frightened that Remus would die. She loved the man, more than anybody else in the world.
The young witch had been injured in the battle at the ministry and when she had woken up it had been Remus who had told her of the death of her cousin. Sirius. Oh she missed him terribly; his humour, his moods and his friendship. It had been a real blow to hear that he had died. She had cried and Remus had comforted her. He had held her in his arms, close, and somehow she had ended up on his lap.
Thinking back to that horrible night still brought tears to her eyes. She had confessed her love for him and he had rejected her. Simply rejected her. Angrily she whipped away her tears. She should forget about him, just as he had told her. But somehow she couldn't forget him. She couldn't forget the cosy nights around the fire with him and Sirius, talking about nonsense, joking around and drinking too much fire whisky. She couldn't forget the sweet, gentle kiss that he had given her on that night in the hospital. She couldn't forget him and she didn't want to forget him either.
