So, I decided to jump on the bandwagon of writing a confrontational story of Cosmo and Wanda. This seems to be a popular idea in this fandom. I was inspired to do this story when I was listening to Jordan Sparks song "Battlefield" I don't know how many chapters this will have, but I don't intend for this to be a long story. I hope you guys enjoy and don't forget to let me know what you think. :)

10,000 years is a long time to love someone. Not everyone is capable of giving so much love for so long. Many end up cascading down a spiraling hill of doubt and depression, while others take the easy way out and throw in the towel. Wanda often found herself dealing with the former, but recently she had been considering the latter. Things just seemed to be getting worse, no matter how hard she tried. The light at the end of the tunnel was growing dimmer with each passing day and she often wondered if it was worth fighting for anymore.

Tears stained the pillow as they fell from her rosy pink eyes. Crying had become her solace. Her tears had become her relief. She heaved a heavy sigh as her previous conversation with Cosmo, from earlier, replayed in her mind.

Flashback

The two fairies had just said goodnight to Timmy and went inside their fishbowl castle, where they said goodnight to their son. Wanda came down stairs from tucking Poof into bed and it wasn't long before she and Cosmo got into another heated argument. Timmy's wishes had become ridiculous as of late and Wanda feared for not only his safety, but theirs as well. While Cosmo, on the other hand, was all for any cooky ideas the young boy came up with.

"Why are you always such a nag?" Cosmo chided.

"Well, if you would just listen to me, I wouldn't have to nag." Wanda threw her hands in the air exasperated.

"Well maybe if you didn't nag so much, I would listen to you more!" Cosmo crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes at his wife.

"Ugh! Talking to you is like talking to a brick wall!" She exclaimed, shoving past him.

"Oh yeah? And you think talking to you is any fun?" He retorted, following behind her. "All you do is nag. You're just a big naggy nag! You don't ever let me have any fun and you treat me like a child!" Wanda laughed cynically as she turned around.

"Well, maybe if you acted your age, I wouldn't have to treat you like a child."

"Well, maybe if you acted more like my wife than my mama, I wouldn't have to act like a child!"

Wanda rolled her eyes and began floating up the stairs to their bedroom. "Where are you going?" He began following behind her, keeping his distance.

"I'm going to bed!" She said, not bothering to look back. But she suddenly halted to a stop when she heard Cosmo mumble something under his breath. "What did you say?" She slowly turned around to glare at her husband.

"I said," he returned her glare and moved closer to her as if to challenge her. "Mama was right. Life was so much better when I was single."

Wanda's heart split and her jaw went slack. She wanted to say something but she wasn't sure what. Her mind was clouded and all of her doubts and fears were resurfacing. Lately she wondered if Cosmo really loved her. His words told her he did, but his actions spoke otherwise. And what he had just said confirmed what she didn't want to believe.

"You know what Cosmo?" Her hands clenched into fists at her sides and her eyes stung as they glossed over with tears. She didn't want him to see that he had just broken her. Cosmo's glare softened when he noticed a strain in her voice. "Never mind." She muttered and turned around and quickly went to the bedroom, slamming the door shut behind her.

End flashback

She cried harder at the memory of what he said to her. His true feelings finally came out after all this time. When she lifted her head from the pillow, something shiny caught her eye. She looked down at her left hand and saw her wedding ring. The ring he gave to her. A symbol of his love. A promise of forever. Her sadness was suddenly replaced by anger. She glared down at the offending object and swiftly removed it from her finger, chucking it across the room. If Cosmo didn't love her anymore, then she didn't want that stupid ring. The ring that was supposed to be a symbol of their undying love that was dying!

She grabbed her pillow and hugged it tightly against her body as she recalled all the times he called her mean names. All the times he drooled over other fairies. All the times he got her in trouble with Jorgen. All the times he... whispered sweet nothings in her ear. And all the times he held her hand tightly and stole kisses when Timmy and Poof weren't looking. Her heart split even more when she remembered everything they had been through, in order to be together. They both had to sacrifice and fight for their love. And then there was Poof. Their one and only baby. Wanda thought having a baby would bring her closer to her husband. After all, Poof, eventhough he was wished for by their godson, was the product of their love.

Wanda fell back onto the bed and cried until she fell asleep from exhaustion.

Cosmo sat on a large rock in fairy world, overlooking the river. He needed to get away for awhile to clear his head. He didn't have the best memory, but the look on Wanda's face seemed to burn in every crevice of his brain. It was one of the few things he wished he could forget.

"What did I do?" He cried to himself. His words replayed inside his head like a broken record.

"Mama was right, life was so much better when I was single."

He hated remembering those words, almost as much as the image of Wanda's hurt face. Eventhough she tried to hide it, he knew he had broken her. Never in their 10,000 years of being together had he ever seen her so hurt. He couldn't deny that he had made her cry before, many times. But she never just walked away from him like that. They always worked things out. They would argue, he would say something stupid that would either make her really angry or cry, then they would apologize and kiss and make up.

But this time, he really messed up. This time he hurt her on a whole other level. As soon as those words left his mouth, he regretted them. But where did they come from? Did he really mean them? Could he ever take them back?

He sighed and looked down at his left hand. A smile played on his lips when he saw the silver band, wrapped around his finger. Wanda had given him that ring as a symbol of her love. It was the one thing that was sacred to him. Even more so than Phillip. He loved that ring. He loved Wanda. So why did he say what he did? He tried blinking back the tears that burned his eyes. But he failed.
