Prologue
The lake looked absolutely gorgeous under the starlit sky. The dark night was cold, no cloud could be seen. If anyone would look out of one of the small castle windows they'd see the tiny black figure of a girl walking along the edge of the glistening lake, he cloak dancing in the wind behind her. But at this time of night everyone in the castle was asleep. Right?
There she was again. He examined her silhouette closely. She had wrapped her cloak tightly around her to protect her from the cold. He didn't know who she was, but she intrigued him. Who was she and what was she doing down at the lake at this time of night in the cold?
He got up from the window-sill, still looking at the girl, who was now sitting on a rock at the lakeside. He could only imagine how cold she was and couldn't suppress a shiver. He was glad he was inside the warm castle. The boy casted one last glance at the dark figure on the rock and saw that the wind blew her hood off, causing her long hair to dance in the wind. Within a second she pulled it around her head again.
