This can be read as platonic...or not. I just want my readers to be happy with it.
This was it, the final battle for mankind, for the world. And Team Free Will was at the front lines. It was the true Apocalypse this time, and when it was over, there would not be a soul left on the Earth.
There were only two places that were safe from the destruction of the world.
Heaven. And Hell.
Every single Seal had been broken, all the monsters and vampires and witches had been summoned from the four corners of the world.
And the demons ran rampant everywhere.
Mother Nature was unable to withstand the sudden influx of all things evil, and she tried to expel them. High winds whipped across the planet, earthquakes ripped continents in half, fire raged along the forests, and tsunamis drowned thousands.
Team Free Will was fighting to get into Heaven. The more evil things they killed, the more people they saved, the more likely it was that they would be granted entrance into Heaven before the Earth and all the evil things in it tore it apart.
They would have to die first, before going into Heaven. But everyone knew that more than likely, there would be no survivors.
They were gathered in Bobby's house, the bunker might have been a safer place, but with the world being shredded around them, they did not care about safety anymore.
Bobby, Crowley.
Sam, Dean.
Castiel, and the not-so-dead-Gabriel.
The reincarnated Charlie.
And a few other men and women who where the last of the hunters.
Team Free Will had expanded, but it would get smaller soon.
They all stood in silence, loading weapons, packing food, and saying goodbye to each other, in small intimate ways.
Sam walked up to Dean, and placed the Samulet in the palm of his brothers hand.
Dean slipped it over his head without hesitation.
In another corner, two of the hunters kissed.
Free Will wasn't just a team, it was a group, that contained friends, enemies, brothers...and partners.
Bobby and Crowley stood together, near the kitchen, sharing a last drink of some rich red wine that Crowley had conjured. In one hand Crowley held the leash of a Hellhound, and in the other he clutched Bobby's old, worn, hat.
Sam and Gabe were likewise sitting together, Sam spending a last few minutes on his laptop, and Gabriel flicking chocolate bars into existence. Gabe finished his last candy, and his hands reached up to tie Sam's lengthening hair back into a more functional style.
Charlie in a corner, smiling with one of the female hunters.
Everyone there had a special someone, someone they would instantly die for.
Dean would die for Sammy, but now Sam had someone else who was willing to do that for him.
Dean looked at Castiel, who was standing at his side as always.
But Bobby was done with his drink now.
"All right idjits, lets go!" the old hunter shouted, throwing open the front door.
One by one, they all filed to the door, and out onto front lawn.
Bobby locked the door, and stomped the brass key into the ground.
But he did not seem to be in any hurry to leave, and everyone understood.
They all paused, for one last moment of quiet.
Bobby staring at the house that held so many memories, and everyone staring at everyone else.
No words were spoken, and silence invaded, as they thought of all that could have been done, and should have been done during their lives, and now, all the things that they would never get to do.
Dean slowly reached down.
And took Castiel's hand.
I like reviews, just so you know. Thanks!
