Heartless
Everyone thought that Lavi was starting to care. That the stone wall he built around his heart was starting to crumble. That Lavi was more to him than just a name.
But that was the true facade of Lavi.
He pretended to care. He pretended that he had a heart. He pretended that Lavi meant more to him than any other persona he had had.
They thought that he was changing. That he was opening up to them. But he was empty inside.
Better than any actor, he could adapt to a new personality.
Bookman played along. After all, who do you think taught Lavi to act? Bookman berated Lavi when necessary. He caused all those around them to believe Lavi was who he truly was. It was Lavi that he wanted to be.
The more his mask seemed to break, the closer they became. They began to trust him. And he learned secrets. Many secrets that were immediately written down for future bookmen.
They thought they meant something to him. But in reality they were just ink on paper.
A bookman wasn't supposed to have a heart, and Lavi was no exception.
