Clearest in the Fog
She stretched, awakened by a lack of presence and found him immediately. She smiled at his back, still feeling warm from his cold body lying next to her all night. They really, probably, shouldn't have started this, but truthfully, it was to general benefit because they had started getting (relatively) full nights of rest. It was early, wasn't it? She looked up and out the window right behind her. Still dark. Good. She let her gaze wander back to him. What was he doing up so early? Oh yeah… shower. She needed to take one too and he'd said she could use his before she left. Well she'd just wait then. She watched as he slipped out of his shirt, folded it (somewhat neatly: amazingly compared to her usual folding, if she bothered), and laid it down on his dresser. She blinked, and blushed slightly, at his bare back and even more as she realized what would have to come next. She tried to look away, couldn't, and pondered what to do as he… The moral decisions I am forced to make… She looked at the back of his head and noticed something then that made her squint maliciously. He had his mask on. Why, you devious little… I should watch just to wreak vengeance…
"Kakashi!" she belted just in time. "I'm awake- and you know it."
"Anko? Oh… Good morning!" she could tell he smiled here because his eye crinkled merrily. "I did not notice you had woken up!" She threw his pillow at him and got out of his bed. "What was that for?"
"You know exactly what that was for." She picked up the pillow and primly puffed it before whacking his arm with it and placing it at the head of his bed. He held his arm and gently kicked the back of her leg. She tried to catch his foot but he was too fast. As usual. She grinned, leaning on the dresser. "Go on now. Take your shower."
"Anko! Not with you watching! The indecency is, well, indecent to say the least."
"No, go ahead. I'll turn away."
"You just proved you can't do that."
"Well I'll try," she batted her eyes. "Really hard, just for you, okay?" He was quiet for a while.
"You have to take a shower too, right?"
"Yeah, but I can wait my turn."
"Well, it's impractical and hardly necessary."
"Are you asking me to take a shower with you?"
"Is that what it sounded like?" She bit her bottom lip and smacked his arm. He caught her hand and pulled her with him to the shower, sliding back the curtain and stepping in carefully with her. He pulled her close and then leaned over to turn on the water.
"Mmm… you're insane, " she whispered in his ear as their clothing quickly got soaked and the water beat down on them.
"Am I?" he whispered back, chin tucked over her shoulder. They pulled apart slightly to look at each other through the steam. "'You see clearest in the fog sometimes.' A Hokage said that… I can't remember which…" he looked at her, not expecting an answer She reached up and ran a finger down the narrow scar on his left eye.
"Kakashi," he looked at her, somewhat melancholic, "will you tell me a story?" He put a hand over her left shoulder, over the dormant seal, and kissed her lips, softly but certainly. He pulled back slowly.
"Only if you tell me one."
