Alanna cried out and Jonathon finally let go of her. He gruffly moved into the carriage leaving the stunned Alanna kneeling on the wet grass.
"Well are you coming or what?" Jonathon replied coldly as she moved to cup her sore arm. She got in the carriage quietly and didn't say anything more. The trip back to Tortal was long and conversationless. It was almost morning when they got back.
"Jonathon," Alanna confronted Jon before he could leave.
"What?" Jonathon demanded.
"I'm sorry about what I did," Alanna replied softly. Jonathon sighed and cupped his arms around Alanna. The argument was already over. Even though Alanna had forgiven Jonathon she could still not get the memory of his anger.

Alanna woke up in the middle of the night heaving. She had the same dream again:
Roger smiled wickedly as he reached for Jonathon. Instead of killing his cousin, he breathed words of magic in Jon's ear. Jonathon woke up and looked at Alanna. He reached towards his finger and ripped the wedding ring off. He thrust it at her and disappeared… -The dream ended
Alanna knew she had to go to the great goddess and find out about her dream. She looked beside her and Jonathon wasn't there. She definitely had to go and see the Goddess. Alanna quickly got dressed. She knew she had to go the temple of the goddess.
Alanna looked up at the great statue in the temple.
"Mother, guide me," she whispered quietly.
"Yes my daughter," Alanna looked up and saw the familiar face. The Goddess was smiling.
"You're worried about your dream aren't you?" The Goddess said cupping Alanna's face into her perfect hands. Alanna nodded.
"The dreams you have had isn't something just evil. It represents something that is going to happen," she whispered.
"What do you mean? Jonathon would never be like that," Alanna cried. She remembered just what Jon had done after the Gallan feast.
"Go back to the palace gardens and you will see the truth," the goddess said before vanishing in an array of light. Alanna looked around and she was alone again. Quickly obeying what the goddess had just said she moved back to the palace.
Alanna hesitated before turning the doorknob to the garden. She looked across and saw Thayet in Jonathon's arms. This was HER destiny. Thayet gasped when she Alanna. Alanna screamed before dashing off. She knew that her fate was not with Jonathon. As she ran she slipped the wedding ring off. Alanna stopped when she got to an old fountain. She dropped the ring inside and watched as it fell into the murky water. Alanna got to her horse and rode down to the market place when she first rode into Corus. She caught site of a familiar man.
"George?" Alanna smiled. It was good to see her old friend again.
"How are you doing, lass?" George said as he walked towards her.
"Not so good," Alanna whispered. She felt tears sting at her eyes but she ignored them.
"What's wrong Alanna. I've never seen you so upset before," George said as a worried look came over his eyes.
"It's just that Jonathon. He's in love with Thayet," Alanna blurted. She looked up into George's eyes and they were no longer the eyes if a friend. She finally knew her fate was.
