Her knees were bruised against the stained glass, deep scars running under her skin. Chains clattered against the glass as she shifted in their grip. The metal links pressed against her skin. Solemn eyes that swirled curiosity shunned the rusted links. "Chains will always rust," she thought dully. She had sat there for an eternity. She observed every detail to stained glass the shone above darkness. She didn't bother to struggle, she knew she could never break free; it just made the pressure tighter.
"Your light still shines,"
Her head shot up as she heard that voice. Her heart pounded against her rib cage, and she felt heavy.
"The twilight is fading, the kingdom will fall, and the door has been unlocked,"
These words were so foreign to her. She wanted to know who was speaking, but her voice wouldn't come out. Her eyes stayed wide and her breathing became shallower. The heartbeat she hadn't felt in so long was agonizing.
"So what will you do to protect the kingdom you once thought so much about?"
The question surprised her as all feelings stopped. She had no idea what the disembodied voice was talking about. She heard a cracking noise. She looked off to her side to see the stained glass breaking apart. Her eyes widened as she watched shards fall from underneath her. Then finally her voice came out. "What's going on!" she panicked. Soon the glass fell from her completely. She gripped at the chains trying to keep herself from falling into the darkness. The links rusted and fell apart into dust. "No!" she screamed falling into the darkness.
"Chains will always rust,"
