Author's Note: This was my way of getting back on the Fanfiction wagon, so to speak. It's been a while since I've really, truly written, so hopefully this is at least passable. I know it's short, but hopefully that's not such a bad thing. Without further ado, enjoy!

"Little boys shouldn't be poking around in graveyards." It wasn't a suggestion, or even a statement, so much as it was an order. "I know all the residents of Kakariko, kid. You're not one of 'em. Now, kindly leave the dead in peace," Dampé said, trying to seem less scary by patting Link on the shoulder.

Link nodded, turned around, and walked away from the graveyard without a word.

It was midday when Link returned to the graveyard. He had heard things about some of the graves there that he really needed to investigate. He wasn't really trying to upset anyone or break the rules, but...he was the Hero of Time. Not, of course, that anyone would believe that about a little boy.

Luckily, the man was not in sight as Link walked back through the archway to the graveyard. He went immediately to the back of the cemetery, noticing Hyrule's crest on the largest grave, and then again, on the ground of front of it.

Link, ever the resourceful one, took out the ocarina that Zelda had entrusted him with. Well, if one could really call throwing it to him while fleeing "entrusting". He played the song Impa had taught him, knowing it coincided with the Triforce symbol.

As the final notes of Zelda's Lullaby were carried away on the breeze, a very astounding thing happened. The headstone in front of Link exploded loudly, causing a thousand tiny rocks to rain down around the graveyard, revealing a small, deep hole.

"What are you doing back here, kid!" an angry voice shouted from across the cemetery.

Link looked behind himself just long enough to see Dampé loping down the path toward him. After considering his options for only a second, he jumped down into the hole.

He was confronted by a long hallway, which was surprisingly well-lit for being so far underground. Seeing no other choice than to proceed, Link walked down the hallway until he came upon a room filled with bones.

Link silently bowed his respects to these people whose tomb he had disturbed. But he couldn't dwell – he had to find the tomb's secret and get out. So he continued forward, climbed up on the pedestal in front of him, and through the door in his path.

The next room glowed green in front of him, the most acrid smell reaching his nostrils. Link tried not to gag as he walked further into the tomb.

But then he froze. In front of him was possibly the most terrifying thing he had encountered in his mission to save Hyrule. It looked like a corpse, but wrinkled and...alive. Its eye sockets were soulless but Link could tell that it could see him. A singular thought formed in Link's mind: "Run."

The boy started running forward, but a high pitched-bone-chilling scream stopped him in his tracks. He was frozen, unable to move or escape. He felt the ReDead coming close and closer behind him until...

It suddenly jumped on him, wrapping its arms and legs around his front and trying to eat through his hat. Link felt himself getting weaker and weaker...

He fought with himself to remain conscious, but as the ReDead chewed at his head, he blacked out. The corpse walked away slowly, satisfied.

The small, pink fairy finally got the cork on her bottle loose and sprinkled her fairy dust over the unconscious boy's body.

He got up, brushed himself off uneasily, and ran forward, unwilling to look back at the corpse that had almost done him in.

Link finally emerged from the hole, the sunset turning the sky pink and orange. He smiled, holding his ocarina triumphantly and looking to the sky, happy to see it again. Never again would he go poking around in graves – never again.
