It was nighttime. The gems were vising Peridot's and Lapis's barn for a family sleepover, and they were having a fairly good time. Chirping crickets sang and a fresh smell of nighttime country, filled the air with a pleasant attitude that just screamed NIGHTTIME. It was lovely.

Peridot was by herself, outside. All the gems were in the barn along with Greg. Some were awake, and some were sleeping away, dreaming about world peace and loveliness.

She sat on the log, gazing at the stars. She couldn't believe that she used to be a servant for Homeworld. She was herself, and that was that. She watched the galaxy gleaming, which brung tears to her face. She wiped them.

She felt so much love at that moment. It was just a very beautiful night, and the country was beautiful. She loved her life so much. She couldn't imagine anything better.

As she gazed at the stars, she could hear someone coming out from the barn. Steven probably has to do his business, she thought, and so she paid no attention to provide him with his preferred privacy.

Instead, it was who she'd almost expected. It was Garnet. Garnet sat next to her and greeted her with a lovely smile. "Hello, Peridot," she said, her sweet accent filling Peridot's ears.

Peridot smiled at her. "Hello, Garnet!" she said happily, but not so loudly to spoil the quiet mood. The crickets kept on chirping. Peridot sighed happily and slumped against the log. "I've just been thinking."

"About what, exactly?" Garnet asked gently. She was a very mysterious person, well, gem in this case - and very curious as well. Her personality was unusual in a charming way.

"Life," Peridot replied. "It's so good and I'm living a very good one. I'm glad you guys redeemed me. I'm just happy to be...me," she said.

Garnet smiled. "Life is good on Earth, isn't it?" she eyed the dark, rich colors in the sky. "It's so beautiful. Earth can change one's experience forever."

"True that," Peridot agreed. She gave Garnet a genuine smile. "I'm glad I have you guys." She leaned in closer to Garnet with a hug. The feeling was mutual, but motherly. Peridot loved how sweet Garnet had been to her after she redeemed, and everyone else especially.

She was very grateful to be living on Earth.

Garnet hugged back. Peridot was lost in lala land, constantly thinking about how grateful she was and all the fun memories. She remembered when they worked on the drill. She remembered when she became an official Crysyal Gem. She remembered everything.

She leaned back more, feeling even more relaxed. She was very comfortable and felt amazing. She never felt so good.

She would love to stay on that barn forever. It would be a place of remembering.

That night, she fell asleep next to Garnet.
