Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter, or much else, but i'm sure you already knew that.

Title: A Rose for Rose

Author: SinDoll

Pairing: Rose Weasley / Scorpius Malfoy

Inspiration: A rose i was given on Valentines Day. (I never got round to posting it)

Standing before her in the Heads common room, Scorpius held out a long silver box topped with a gold ribbon.

"Happy Valentines Day Rose. I thought i would make sure you got somethign from a friend before you were forced to endure your flocking admirers." he said a laugh dying on his lips as he looked up at her face. "Calm down Rose, i was just kidding."

"You know I would rather spend the day with you, both of us hiding from the hormonal hordes and the tetchy teachers." Rose said, biting her lip, he just nodded and pushed the box into her hands. Rose carefully opened the box and gasped. Packed in tissue was a rose, made of a green glass stem, twined with silver detailing and a stunning red glass bud with real gold tips.

"I made it myself and i charmed it so that it blooms throughout the day before closing up that night and starting all over again the next day. The charm will eventually fade and it will become inanimate, but i;m sure you knew that already..." he trailed off. He seemed nervous, a trait Rose didn't realise he possessed at all.

Rose couldn't help it when she raised an eyebrow and asked "Just another one of your talents?" at which he relaxed and grinned. His grin and the rose were currently tied for the most beautiful things she had ever seen and currently they were both hers. She was the luckiest girl alive. Looking back at the rose she smiled softly, realising something important.

"It's our colours..." she whispered.

"Of course, i'm the Gryffindor bloom and you're the Slytherin Thorns" he replied. She smiled, them not being placed in the houses they were expected to be in is what made them friends in the first place.
"Ha-Ha, Scorp, you're hilarious"

"You know i am just joking with you. But it did make me realise as i made it, that maybe our friendship isn't so strange." he said, she looked at him quizically. "Well, a Rose's combination of red and green is what makes it so beautiful. After all why shouldn't you follow your name sakes example?"

She looked contemplative for a moment for a moment before a sly smile crept across her face.
"Wow Scorp, since when were Griffindors so deep and meaningful?"
"I don't know Rose, since when were Slytherins capable of stringing a full sentence together?" They both grinned to show they were kidding.

"Thanks Scorp, it's beautiful." He shrugged.
"It doesn't do you justice." he said before looking at the ground. Rose almost sighed out loud, she smiled slightly again and lent forward to embrace her friend. As she pulled back she brushed her lips lightly against his.

"Happy Valentines Day Scorp."

AN: I couldn't resist putting them in the opposite houses. Hope you enjoyed it.
