A Meaningless Effort
Remember the days, when we would talk
About getting off this island rock
A quiet life, a boring drone
The only place we've ever known
Life is not bad where we call home
But still we wish that we were gone
Out far away, in worlds untold
Where we are heroes, strong and bold
Exploring places made of dreams
Where nothing is as it all seems
What excitement, grand adventure brings
What tales to tell, what songs to sing
How we wish to be out there
But at least for now we only stare
In wonder at the sky above,
At other worlds we're dreaming of
We have to go, that much is clear
Nothing changes, staying here.
But still I wonder, in truth, although,
How far can this raft really go?
Can it span the gap so vast and wide,
That keeps me from the other side.
If it doesn't work then something will
I certainly won't stop until
I get away, I won't look back!
Even if my heart turns black
I have to flee, I have to know.
Well then, that's it, it's time to go.
Farewell my home and family,
From here on out, it's only me.
