"Why not?" whispered Ginny, leaning forward. Belle shrugged, turning away from her friend, hoping that Hermione would jump to her rescue like always. But not this time.

"She's right Belle!" answered Hermione, nodding towards Ron and Harry, signalling them to join. "I backed you up about all the others, but Justin's really nice. He's funny, he's cute, and he's smart... frankly he's almost perfect for you!"

Ron nodded in agreement.

"You can't say no to this one"

Belle scowled.

"Yes I can Ron. I'll date who I want to date!" she snapped. None of them noticed the dark haired Slytherin with the green eyes listening to the conversation run towards the Slytherin Table, to whisper to his friend.

"Look Belle, why can't you just give him a chance?" asked Harry, "you can't go to the dance by yourself"

Belle opened her mouth to speak.

"And don't try tell me you're not going, I've seen that dress in your closet!" interrupted Ginny.

"Something's obviously wrong Belle" said Hermione, "every time we try to talk to you about a boy, you snap at us."

Belle sighed.

"I just can't go with Justin okay?' she replied, "can't that be enough?"

"Not until you can tell us why you can't go with Justin" answered Ron.

"Because she's going with me"

Belle spun around in her seat, and stared up at the new comer in disbelief.

"Malfoy?" gasped Ginny. Belle stood, folding her arms across her chest in defiance.

"Don't think this means you're forgiven," she said, though a smile was tugging at her lips. "Because you..."

Her words were cut off, as a grinning Draco leant forward, pressing his lips against hers, claiming them in a breath-taking kiss. He pulled away, and laughed softly, as her eyes were still closed.

"I think that's exactly what it means"

She opened her eyes, glaring at him. He grinned, kissing her once more, wrapping his arms around her waist, pulling her closer to him, as her arms wrapped around his neck, fingers tangling in his hair.

Professor McGonagall stared at them from across the hall, surprise in every feature. Finally she found her voice.

"Now that's Inter-house Unity!"
