A/N; Hey! This is my first Pushing Daisies fic. It's basically my views on Olive Snook. I hope you enjoy.

Disclaimer: It ain't mine.

Alone.

She hated being alone. But yet, it always seemed to happen. Ever since she was a child she has been left out and shunned, for no particular reason. It just seemed that she was that kind of person.

When she was only a baby, her father left because he was too scared of the prospect of being a father. This had a knock-on effect, and about a year later, a young Olive Snook was taken into care because her mother couldn't cope with being a single parent. She had no contact with any of her family; she was just forced to grow up without them.

Growing up wasn't easy either. Olive spent years going in and out of foster families, each one had ended unsuccessfully. She spent her whole life moving around, trying to adapt and fit in, but it never seemed to work. School was also difficult. Olive had been a rather shy child, scared, apprehensive and unable to make friends. All of the other children managed to separate themselves into clichés. But there was always one odd-one-out. Olive would sit alone. The only people to ever take notice of her were the school bullies. Even they got sick of her after a while.

High school seemed to be an improvement. Olive had grown to be a very pretty girl, and in the later years of school she had her very first boyfriend. He was good looking and charming. He had a cute smile, and she especially loved it when he held her hand. It was like a link that joined them together, their own special bond. It seemed to make up for the fact that they barely spoke to each other. He seemed to lose interest in her. She just left it alone; she didn't want to stir up the tiny connection they had left. She just let him be. Until she caught him making out with another girl. Olive was crushed. Instead of apologising to her, he just dumped her on the spot.

When Olive turned 18, she was old enough to leave the children's Home she lived at. She didn't want to go, but she couldn't stay on because she wasn't technically a child. Support helped her pay for a small apartment, then they just left her be. She went in and out of jobs, unable to stay put. This was one of her lowest points. She hated living alone. At least she had someone there at the children's Home, even if they did all hate her. Now there was nothing.

Olive had been living in the apartment for almost two years, when she started to talk to the man who lived across the hall. He entranced her. He seemed so lonely and secluded, a dog named Digby was his only companion. After a little bit of enquiry, she found out he made pies, and owned a little cafe called The Pie Hole. His name was Ned. They sometimes stopped to chat to each other in the hallway and she soon found herself falling for him.

Then came the day she was sure he loved her back. He actually knocked on her door and asked if she would be interested in working at The Pie Hole as a waitress. She was beyond herself with excitement. She eagerly agreed and started work, quitting her old job. She tried to push away the fact that he could

be awkward, and would not her touch him. She managed to reassure herself with the fact that no-one was allowed to touch him.

But then she came along.

This random woman who Olive first saw leaving Ned's apartment. Once again, Olive was crushed. This man, whom she was sure had feelings for her, had another woman. Now he was always off with her and that Emerson person. Rushing off out of the cafe at random moments, he would ask Olive if she minded looking after The Pie Hole, but he always left before she had the chance to answer. And Olive would feel left out again, as she sat in an empty cafe. By herself.

Alone.
