DISCLAIMER; I don't own Ouran. At all. If it did, Eclair would be in it more, Renge would be a main, main character and Mori would get more screen time.

Reverse of Shade

She sees the world through rose tinted glasses.

She doesn't remove those glasses- those lens- because she's afraid of what she might see. Afraid that it might be so gorgeous that it will move her to tears because reality just isn't as beautiful when you're living in it. If you are watching, merely adulating, it turns into a play of sorts. A Shakespearian activity which leaves you laughing and crying until you can't remember if it's supposed to hurt and relieve your sorrows or leave you empty afterwards.

She always feels the latter, and hates herself for it.

The tear against her face doesn't feel any more real than the love in her heart. It faces the same treatment as all her other feelings- it goes unnoticed until it disappears completely into a resonance of the fact that, 'You don't need these stupid things; you're not a child'. She blinds her minds with these thoughts as she lets him go, the girl was probably going to break her neck anyway.

She laughs bitterly as she steps onto the plane, it goes unheard as its only a sound in her mind. It silenced by the screaming, the bawling and the crying she heard shattering around her. Her rose tinted glasses are gone, her mind is blurred and her vision burning- but does it matter. She swallows her wine carefully.

She bites her nail slightly, her fingers jittery without the gold plated lenses to hold. Putting her head in her hands, she falls asleep with a vibrant memory.

The noose-man grins until his coat of black. She scoffs before stepping up to the challenge and feels the harshness of the rope against her throat. He releases and she falls onto to awake with a startling cry and tears in her eyes still running down.

She could see his smile, the words he muttered before jumping off into reality.

'Thank you for everything, Éclair,'

Or maybe it was…

'I hope you find happiness, Éclair,'

Either way… She knew he heard him say her name- and it made her heart break as he left. It was like watching a bird leap off into an unknown world after holding it in your hand and falling in love with the notion that it would say forever. But birds cannot stand cages and her cages will never catch another bird- because the bird she wants flew away.

And it's never coming back.

'At least I have a little neck' a great Queen once muttered and she follows, in turn, with the same calm voice which seems cracking until the pressure.

Éclair feels her neck before looking at the mirror of the glass window with a stoic resistance- could she really say the same?
