A/N: Guys. I'm so excited about the proposal. SO. EXCITED. I literally cannot wait. And as excited as I am, I have my own way I would prefer for it to be done. I mean, I'm going to be ecstatic either way, but the intimate setting I've put them in here just feels right to me. Hope you enjoy!
There was nothing special about it. They were just sitting on the couch watching TV with Monty curled at their feet. She was in sweatpants and one of his t-shirts, a typical Tuesday night.
He was off on some bit trying to make her laugh, his eyes sparkling with mischief and humor. His hand squeezed her knee as he chuckled, and she laughed along with him. It was then that she knew. And she didn't want to wait any longer.
"Yes."
His laughter trailed off. "Yes, what?" he asked.
"Yes, I will marry you."
Her words hung briefly in the air and then, "No."
"No?" she raised her eyebrows.
"You can't say yes. I didn't propose."
"Yes, you did. You proposed at the hospital. Twice apparently."
"That didn't count. There was going to be a beach and a sunset and dolphins. I was going to get dolphins! And maybe a helicopter. Or a submarine. I hadn't worked it all out yet but it was going to be grand and romantic and perfect. You deserve perfect."
She laced her fingers with his, silencing his protests. "Deeks, you have stood beside me through some of the most difficult things..." she swallowed and shook her head. "When I didn't know who I was anymore, didn't even recognize myself, you stayed, and you held my hand, and you waited for me to find my way back. If that's not a proposal, I don't know what is. I don't need sunsets or dolphins or helicopters. I just need you. So yes, I will marry you."
His whole body had stilled and his eyes locked with hers. "Yes?" It was whispered, hopeful.
"Yes." She smiled and then his lips were on hers stealing the breath from her lungs, his hands finding their way into her hair as his body pressed against hers. She kissed him back with everything she had, joy exploding inside of her like fireworks. Damn, the things this man did to her.
When they came up for air he reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring, holding it up between them. "Are we really doing this?" he asked.
"Yeah." Tears pricked her eyes as he slid the sparkling diamonds onto her finger.
"Well don't cry!" he laughed.
"You're crying too!" she accused over her own laughter, pressing her lips to his once more. "If you still want to do a proposal…"
"No," he said earnestly. "It doesn't matter to me. If you're happy, I'm happy."
"I am Deeks. So happy. More than happy." She held up her hand, watching the diamonds glitter. "Were you really going to get a helicopter?"
"Maybe?" he shrugged. "I had also considered a snow machine, horse and carriage, and a mariachi band."
"Wow, you were really going to go all out on this huh?"
"Like, I said, you deserve perfect."
"We deserve perfect," she corrected. "And we've got it."
His face was beaming with happiness that matched her own, his whole being radiating with a love that she could feel all the way in her soul. "Yeah, we do."
