December 2nd
Today is my birthday. I got you from Father. He said that it would perfect my speech. I also got a new dressing table from Mother. She said that she got it when she was 27 too from her mother, but I'm getting ahead of myself. My name is Princess Thayet jian Wilima of Camau and Thanhyien. My Father is Warlord Adigun jian Wilima and my mother is Kalasin jian Wilima, Duchess of Camau and Thanhyien, a K'miri princess and the most beautiful woman in the world. Father says I should have been a boy. When Father says that mother gets mad. But she can't get mad at the Warlord… I am learning how to be a queen because someday I'll marry somebody from a neighboring land. Got to go, mother calls.

Last night was my birthday ball. I wore a yellow, long-sleeved dress with a blue overdress and a gold, intricately designed belt. For my makeup I wore lip paint in red, a bit of pink blush and some perfume. I had a great time. Even my guard, Buri, had a great time.

Today was a normal day, but since you don't know what a normal day looks like for me, I'll tell you about it. First, I was dressed by my Lady-in-Waiting, Gabrielle. I wore a simple, long-sleeved fur gown. Then, I was led by a servant to my mother's private dining area where I ate a breakfast of tea, bread and eggs. After that I strolled through the gardens and ate mini cakes. Then it was time for lunch. I skipped it. While everybody else ate lunch, I sneaked out to the practice fields and practiced my archery. I do this every day. My mother taught me in secret when I was younger and since then I've done this. I then went back to my chambers and read in my sitting room. Then all the noblewomen that aren't baffle-brained came and we just chatted for a few hours. Then we were called for dinner. I cleaned up and hurried to my seat. Once everybody finished dinner the older nobles retired to the Teal Sitting Room. The rest went to the Ballroom to flirt and dance. I retired early at 9:00.

Mother says I have to go to a Convent?! I can only have one saddle bag for my belongings. I'm bringing a few of my gems, my tiara that mother gave me on my 15th birthday and my dagger and bow. I'm going with Buri. Goodbye, everything.

We got to the convent today. Everybody was very kind but I couldn't help day dreaming about Tortall when the First Daughter was talking. Time for Dinner.
