A little one-shot that I made about how Kowalski and Skipper came to NYC zoo.
3rd Person POV
0800 Hours: Antarctica, Queen Elizabeth's Island, Ice Town
The little, short, stalky black and white penguin named Skipper was playing in the mounds of snowdrifts with his best friend, Kowalski. Kowalski was tall for his age, with the classic characteristics of the Classified penguin-black and white, with orange feet and beak. They were playing a game to see how far they could slide on their stomachs.
"Hey Kowalski," Skipper said, "I bet I could slide farther than you on the ice!"
Kowalski replied,
"Nuh-uh! I can slide farther than you!"
"A battle, then!"
They both waddled to the edge of the ice- covered lake nearby, where the 'battle' would take place.
"On your mark, get set, GO!" Skipper yelled. They both slid across the ice on their stomachs, sliding as fast as they could go on the sterling ice. All of a sudden, Skipper hit something as hard as rock, knocking him out. Kowalski then notices the lack of Skipper beside him and goes to check it out.
Once he got there, he quickly found Skipper. He had run into a metal pole. Kowalski thought that it was discolored, oddly shaped ice. (He had lived in Antarctica for all of is life, and it was all he had ever known). Kowalski quickly checked his vitals, and was relieved. Seeing that his friend would be alright, he decided to explore a little bit. He found a big, orange asymmetrical thing. It was flapping in the wind, making an ear-splitting loud noise and showering everything, including him, with ice shards that bounced harmlessly off of his feathers. There were voices and light coming out of the flap. He decided to investigate a little more and bravely go inside the thing. The baby penguin had meant to go in stealthily, but the barrier to keep the snow out provided more of an obstacle than he had originally thought. So, instead of smoothly jumping over it without a sound and hiding, he managed to trip over it, run straight into a hard pole, knock something over which created an extremely loud 'Clang!' and then knock himself out.
*Time Lapse*
The first thing Kowalski hears is voices. He didn't know what they said, but he knows that he needs to find Skipper. Then he opens his eyes and sees his surroundings. He seemed to be in a crate atop a table. He then quickly pushed the crate off the table, and then scampered back outside. He went to the pole that Skipper had run into, thus finding Skipper regaining consciousness. He heard the men that were in the tent coming closer.
"C'mon, Skipper, wake up! We have to hurry if we're going to make it out of here!"
Sadly, the men from the big tent found them first. They were then promptly put into cages with locks and shipped to New York, thus beginning a new life in the Big Apple.
