Drake Parker is not afraid of spiders. He is not afraid of heights, flying, the dark, snakes, enclosed spaces, or public speaking. If you were to ask him, he'd tell you, quite simply, that Drake Parker is not afraid of anything.

He would, of course, be lying.

If you were to ask him the same question right now, he would still maintain he was fearless, even though he's attempting to bury his head in his pillow and he's pulled his blankets up to his nose.

But Drake Parker is not afraid of anything.

Especially thunderstorms.

The room flashes brilliantly and the thunder claps before the light has completely faded. Drake winces. The room continues to flash sporadically and Drake can clearly see Josh in the flickers of light. He's fast asleep, clearly undisturbed by the storm.

Josh's bed looks so much more comfortable and inviting… Drake braces himself for another crack of thunder. He is not afraid of the storm.

He is not.

The thunder rattles the windows and Drake can feel the room vibrate. He whimpers involuntarily as he pulls his blankets over his head. It's not any quieter under there, but it is considerably stuffier. He pokes his nose out to get a breath of fresh air and tells himself he's being silly. Slowly, he removes the rest of his head from the covers. The thunder booms again and Drake resists the urge to dive back under his blankets.

His heart pounds and he squirms, trying to ignore the sense of impending doom that such violent storms always bring him. The lightening lights up Josh again. Without thinking, he very softly calls his name, wanting him to sleep through it and wake up at the same time.

"Josh."

His voice is quiet and drowned out by thunder. He tells himself to stop being a baby, but before he can finish his thought, he hears his own voice, slightly louder this time.

"Josh!"

"Drake? What time is it? Is something wrong?"

"CanIsleepwithyoutonight?" Drake says very quickly. He's a little amazed when Josh doesn't even take a few seconds to sort through the jumble of words Drake has just thrown out.

"Sure."

The word is barely out of his mouth before Drake practically leaps from his bed and dives into Josh's. He burrows under the blankets and pulls himself as close to Josh as possible. Josh wraps his arms around him and places a soft kiss on his forehead.

"Is someone scared of the storm?"

"No," Drake says indignantly as the thunder fades from his ears.

Because Drake Parker is not afraid of anything.

(As long as Josh is around.)
