Emma Becker left Ethan's trailer feeling much better than when she arrived. When he said he would go with her, wow, perfect moments like that don't happen every day. Smiling at the thought, Emma turned Sutton's BMW onto West Street, heading for the Mercer house and at least one more night in the fantasy world of Sutton Mercer's life.

Suddenly Emma's headlights illuminated the figure of a guy standing in the road ahead of her. He turned his head into the light, and Emma recognized Derrick before he turned back to the car he was standing next to, gesturing violently at the driver. Emma slowed as she approached Derrick. Who was he meeting on the side of the road at this time of night, and what had him so upset? Her questions were answered when she rolled past Derrick and saw Alec sitting in the car. When Alec saw Emma, he gave her a look that sent shivers down her spine. Emma sped up and left the unlikely pair in the night.

As she navigated the roads back to the Mercer's, Emma pondered exactly what she had uncovered. Clearly, there was something hinky going on between those two, something more than arranging community service hours. It was just as she had suspected. The satisfaction of being right did little to assuage the concerns raised by this new information. What is the nature of Alec's relationship with Derrick? Why are they sneaking around at night? Why is Derrick so unhappy with Alec? Wait. Emma knew the answer to that one. Hadn't she just the other day tried to explain to Char that Alec probably ordered her breakup? If this were true, it raised a more troubling question. What sort of hold did Alec have over Derrick that he could order him around in his personal life?

Emma Becker did not sleep well that night.
