A/N This is just a drabble. I'm not really a RaySalima fan, this kind of wrote itself. LOL

Enjoy!

Sometimes he wondered if he could really trust her. He knew she had changed. She'd promised him never again. It was just that one time. Just the one lie. They'd just been children. That was her excuse. She just wanted to help her friends; her family. How could he expect her to have turned her back on them (on him!) ? They'd been through so much together. "We found our way back to each other in the end, Ray."

He can't bring himself to agree. He'd saved her, she tells him. He's her hero. She'd waited so long to be with him again. But he can't ditch the little voice in the back of his head. "What if Kane had lived?" The words are out of his mouth before he can stop them.

She grows solemn at the question and looks down. Guilt instantly starts to eat a hole in his chest. He'd made her remember. He can see the tears glistening in the corner of her eyes. She rubs them away quickly; forces a half-hearted smile. "He didn't Ray… You're all I have left now."

The guilt is what makes him bring her into his arms. She's lost a lot of weight, a lot of her strength. Part of her died with Kane that day. He can feel it. "I'm sorry, Salima." He didn't want to hurt her. She'd been through enough.

She cries freely now, letting her heart continue to ache. "I love you Ray…" but those suspicions refuse to go away. Can he really trust her claims? The love she says she has for him? Where had it been when she left him behind to stay at Kane's side?

"I know, Salima… I know."
