When Darkness Falls.

When darkness falls he knows it is his end. There's no turning back, and he wouldn't have it any other way, it is how it is meant to be. Knowing this doesn't stop the pain he has of those he's leaving behind, but the pain shows he is still alive, so he embraces it, his last connection to life. He has to do this, it was his choice, his decision and if he had to do it all over again he would because the alternative is no different. Either way he would be in hell.

It is pitch black, no sounds nothing to disturb the silence, it is as if the world has died. A figure is walking through the darkness, as quiet as everything around him. It seems as if he was walking in a dream but he knows exactly where he is going, he does not trip or stumble but walks with a purpose. Suddenly he stops and turns around as if he thinks something is following him, there is nothing not. He starts walking but his face shows the slightest amount of fear, he's steps less purposeful.

Its so quiet he feels like he is drowning in it, his purposeful steps are a front inside he is shaking, he wants to run away and hide he still could. But the face of his brother is clear in his mind, and with every step he takes towards his end he knows that he is doing it for someone he loves. He would die a million times before he'd let his brother suffer anymore than he already has. He made a promise and he is going to keep it. There is no other way.

As this last thought crosses his mind he knows he has crossed the point of no return and for that he is greatful. He is in the middle of the cross roads, it is time. He hears a sound behind him and turns. The figure standing in front of him is a beautiful woman in black, but he doesn't let that distract him. "I must say I'm surprised you came, I thought you would find another way out of it" her voice is soft and quiet seductive almost; the figure says nothing, just looks at her. The women looks him up and down smiling "Your not a very chatty one are you, fine my boss is impatient you have caused him allot of trouble". With that she disappears, in her place and vicious invisible force slams the figure to the ground ripping him to shreds.

He feels no pain; he keeps his brothers face in his mind, his love for his brother helping him to not feel anything else. Suddenly it stops as quickly as it began. There are voices; someone picking him up calling his name but he barely registers it. He is sure of one thing though, that it is his brother who is calling his name shaking him, holding him. He is dying in his brothers arms, but he doesn't realise. His brother is alive, he kept his promise, and his role is over. Sam Winchester dies in Dean's arms with a smile on his face.

Dean should have known Sam wouldn't give up, that he would do anything to save him. As he kneels there with his brother dead in his arms once again a year after the first time, he feels nothing, and heis just numb. He cant bring himself to cry. This was not how it was meant to end, he is angry his brother has done this to him, it should be him. Slowly he gets up his brother in his arms and carries him to the car. There is only one thing that can be done now.

As the sun raises Sam Winchesters body burns, Dean stands there watching tears rolling down his face. The most important thing to him is gone forever. He is alone and there is nothing he can do about it. As if sensing something he turns around, standing there is the beautiful women who took Sam's soul. Dean pulls out the gun from the waist band of his jeans and aims. He is beyond pain, grief suffering, all he can feel is rage, with Sam's face is his mind he pulls the trigger.

A figure falls to the ground while the other turns and walks away. Dawn has risen. The sun is shinning. It is over.
