A/N: Any questions you have, I will either answer them or tell you to wait and find out :) Trust me, I think I have a plot, so if this plot scares you, let me know, but I think I know where I'm going :D Also, I'm more of a script writer, so no hate - just suggestions and critiques.
Prologue
The extraordinary Katherine Beckett, of the NYPD, had spent half the night grasping the chains of a swing in the middle of a storm as she contemplated her decision between work and love. For so long all she wanted was justice. Now she just wants the man who came waltzing into her life four years ago and made her fall in love with him.
Drenched in rain she stands outside his hallway waiting for the perfect time. Something comes over her and she jumps at the chance. Seconds after Kate knocks on his door he stands there, completely distraught, staring at her.
"Beckett, what do you want?"
"You – and me in Los Angeles together."
"What are you talking about?"
"The L.A.P.D. offered me a job. I want to take it and I want you to come with me. New York is my home but I have to get away for a while."
He takes a step back.
"Get away? Beckett, we just got Montgomery to bend the rules for us so that we didn't have to worry about inter-office dating violations and now you want to go to L.A.? What if they don't bend the rules for us there? It'll be a secret all over again."
Kate realizes his decision and starts to well up.
"We'll make it work. We can make it work."
"I don't want this to be work. I go to work for work. But I go to you for love."
He grabs her waist and pulls her in tight to kiss her but Kate pushes away and gains some composure.
"I'm going with or without you."
"Kate."
She slides his hands off her and steps away as her dam breaks and she starts to cry.
"I'm so sorry, Javi. I'm so sorry."
He kisses her forehead and with the sound of the thunder, Kate leaves Javier Esposito standing at his doorstep watching all he's ever wanted walk away.
"I'm always going love you."
It was his last attempt, but she was gone.
