DM Edith Goes Camping
One day when Edith was playing outside in the garden, she decided to make a tent over the washing line using some of Gru and Lucy's bed sheets.
Gru saw her playing and said ''Quite a keen camper are you then Edith?''. Edith nodded. ''Well den'' Gru continued. ''We'll be visiting Grandma next week in the Half term, hoe about camp out in de top field near where Grandma lives?''
He noticed Edith's eyes light brightly with delight. ''Cool!'' she exclaimed, but then her face fell, ''But we haven't got a tent''. ''We do little keeton'' Gru reassured ''I had de old tent of mine from my young days in de attic''.
Edith wasn't sure if she could wait as long as half term at all. But at long last. The time finally came. Gru said the tent could be put up in the field near to where Grandma lived. Agnes was far too little to go camping and Margo just didn't fancy it, so it would just be Gru and Edith sleeping in the tent.
Edith waited rather eagerly for bedtime to come. Gru had set the tent up in the field right next to Grandma's house. When it was dark and time for bed, using a torch each Edith walked with Gru down the back garden and through the gate into the tent in the field.
They sat watching the stars twinkling in the night sky for a few minutes or so before Gru eventually said ''Ok den Edith, time for bed''. Edith quickly snuggled down quietly into her sleeping bag before dropping off to sleep. When she woke up, it was only the middle of the night, which was absolutely nowhere near morning.
Edith stared around the pitch black filled tent. It was a lot darker than sleeping in a bedroom with her two sisters. She listened to Gru who was snoring away like mad. Edith thought it was lucky she had brought her trusty katana from her ninja kit just in case something happened. Edith was about find her chance come sooner than expected. There was someone or something else other than Gru breathing outside the tent!
Edith gently shock her father, but he had already been woken by the snuffling sound outside of the tent. ''Alright who goes there?''Gru growled sleepily, grabbing his torch and shining it out of the tent. There was defiantly an animal that was outside the tent.
Gru bravely pushed a big wet nose away. Edith held her katana for defence. ''A cow?!'' Gru stared ''I never knew there was a cow in dis field''. ''Now what?'' Edith asked. ''We move de tent!'' Gru scowled ''Dat's what!''. ''What now?'' Edith asked. ''Yes!'' Gru snapped feeling very annoyed to have been woken up just gone the middle of the night.
Having set the tent up again in Grandma's back garden, Edith secretly enjoyed the little adventure even though Gru hadn't. This she thought would be a camping trip she'd never ever forget.
The End
