"Oh come, all ye faithful. Joyful and triumphant…"

Kazuya didn't bother to try and hide his groan of annoyance. With the windows shut and locked, the shudders tightly closed, and the curtains firmly drawn, he could still hear the stupid carolers.

"Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree, how lovely are thy branches…"

He buried his fingers in his hair and grabbed handfuls of the black strands while he simultaneously pressed his palms to his ears. He momentarily thought about throwing his laptop out the window at them then realized that would merely heighten the volume of the singing and figured he would like to continue to at least look sane. But God, sanity be damned if they didn't shut up!

"We wish you a Merry Christmas. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year…"

"Ugh!" Giving into the insanity nudging the edge of his mind, Kazuya slumped and let his head hit his desk with a thump. No one liked that song! Why do they insist on singing it? It was an annoying song that sounded selfish and just tended to get sung over and over and over…

"We won't go until we get some. We won't go until we get some so bring it right here…"

With a strangled cry of desperation he shot up from his chair and made his way to the dim light streaming between cracks in the drapery. Throwing open the curtains, opening the shudders, and unlocking and opening the window, he leaned against the sill and stuck his head out into the cold. The singing was louder and his hands clenched for something to grab and throw. With a low growl he took a deep breath.

"Will you just shut up!? No one likes that stupid song and you all are just annoying! I'm trying to work, so just go away!"

When he was done he was slightly panting and felt a little better. They and many of the pedestrians were staring at him like he had escaped from an asylum. In all retrospect, he might as well have. But at least the singing had stopped. Blessed, the singing had stopped.

Feelings of immense relief flooded through him as the group of carolers slowly dissipated. Feeling more than a little satisfied, he closed everything back up and went and sat back down at his desk.

He picked up his cup and took a sip of his tea before he sighed in content. Ah, sweet silence. Silence was good. Silence was great. You got work done in silence. You can hear your own thoughts in silence. It was a wonderful silence; pure and wonderful silence.

"Joy to the world, the Lord has come. Let earth receive her King…"

His arms went slack and his cup hit his desk with a loud bang as his head fell back to hit the top of his chair with a dull thud. No, please no. Just be quiet! Don't sing it. Don't sing it. Please, don't sin-

"We wish you a Merry Christmas. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year…"

Kazuya's pained groan filled the room. No that song!

Hope you liked it! Review. They help me learn and gives me confidence. Mele Kalikimaka! Thank You! One little side note, I actualy do enjoy carolers. I have even caroled myself. It's just that stupid song that drives me up the wall...
