Why the baboon has a pink bottom
Once upon a time in the jungle there lived a very cheeky and obnoxious baboon named Dodger. Dodger had very thick dark hair covering his body. He thought it was great to have such thick hair because it was easy to crawl over the spiky cactus patch to get to the berry bushes for food. Because of his hair sharp objects never harmed him.
He lived in a jungle with all of the other animals near the dangerous hot springs. None of the animals liked Dodger because he was always up to mischief. The wise lion of the jungle disliked the baboon the most because he always got into trouble and the wise lion had to keep him safe.
The wise lion recalled the time when Dodger played a trick on everyone so he could steal a bunch of Bananas. It happened one summer morning when all of the animals in the jungle were searching for food and water because of a drought. Dodger didn't help, he just sat around yelling at the others and telling them to hurry up and find some food for him. No one was having any luck finding food or water so Dodger decided to go for a walk by himself. On his walk he ran into Peter the panther and he had already found a delicious bunch of golden bananas. Dodger told Peter that he would help him carry the bananas back to the others so he could share them. But Dodger was just making that up so he could get his hands on those bananas.
He walked back with Peter the panther and they saw that their bunch of bananas was the only thing that was found. As soon as the animals started lining up to get a delicious banana Dodger started running away and as he was dashing he was eating all of the fruit. By the time the rest of them caught up to him swinging in the trees the bananas were all gone. This wasn't the only time Dodger made everyone furious but there was one time when Dodger needed friends to help him but he had no one.
It all happened when one day Dodger decided to play around the hot springs. There was one particular spring, which was sitting inside a rocky crater. Dodger started swinging around on the branches that were hanging over the crater and suddenly he slipped. He was hanging on by only one hand so he started yelling. "Help me, help me!" Out of the bushes jumped the wise lion striking a heroic pose, but then he saw that it was Dodger that was in trouble. The lion sighed in disappointment. Dodger said, "Please help me. I promise to never get into any trouble again." "Never would I help you after what you did to all my friends and I!" then the wise lion stepped on his hand and he lost grip and the thick hair on his bottom was completely burnt off as he fell into the extremely hot spring.
After that all of the animals laughed at Dodger and his bare bottom. That's why you never see any lions having a cup of tea with a bare bottomed baboon!
Dodger had now learnt that he should have been kind to the others because when he needed them they just didn't care.
