"WELCOME TO SUMMONER'S RIFT"

My eyes shot open, hands frantically searching for my phone to shut off the alarm, sighing in relief as the song halted its play. Looking up to the clock I saw that it was 5:30 in the morning…why in the fuck was I up this early again? Oh right…I have an interview for Hubbell Electric. Fuck me. I mean I was prepared. I had my suit pressed and my elevator pitch ready to go. But god damn did I not want to go. Quick little explanation: I'm lazy. I was always bright in high school; but I never really did anything. School didn't challenge me, and I never really went out with my friends. "Friends." Right. They weren't actually friends. They were more like acquaintances that I passed time with at the place that we were all required to go for 4 years of our life. Less like friends and more like tolerable fellow inmates. Once we graduated we never spoke again. I guess that says something. But hey. It wasn't just their fault. I never bothered to ask if I could come along when they went out to eat or anything. It was my fault too.

Anyways, fast forward 2 years and here I am in college, majoring in mechanical engineering and about to go to an interview for a job that I wasn't really sure that I wanted. College was more or less the same experience as high school, except with less brain dead idiots filling the hallways and campus. Whatever, maybe when I have some money I can figure out what makes me happy. For now the only thing I did to pass the time between school, sleep, and the off chance that I studied or work out was play League of Legends. I took a look at the time again and somehow it read 6:30…"HOLY SHIT IM LATE!" I hopped in the shower, threw on my suit, laced up my shoes and ran out the door as fast as I could. But once I stepped out the dorm building's door, I noticed something rather odd. Everything seemed to be running slowly…painfully slow. I slowed my run to a brisk walk, trying to understand what was happening around me. But as I walked farther towards the shuttle stop, a strange warm sensation started to well inside my chest. It grew hotter and hotter until I fell to my hands and knees, feeling as if a white-hot ember was buried inside me, melting everything around it and turning my heart to ash. And then in the next moment, it vanished…as if nothing was wrong. I clutched my chest in a vain attempt to make sure what I just felt was real. But as I got up, I noticed that the world was moving at a normal speed again.

"What the fuck is going on?" I thought to myself. "Something is definitely wrong with me."

Trying to prepare myself for the upcoming interview I tried to shake off what had just happened to me, and waited for the shuttle to come. Once it did, I clambered on somberly, giving the driver a "Thank you" as I did. Staring out the window as the shuttle began to move, I watched the world pass by. I nearly forgot about the incident as the moving world lulled me into an absent minded state of being.

The interview went well. I didn't leave the interviewer smack jawed with amazement, but I definitely didn't make myself forgettable. Feigning intense interest and virility, I made myself seem as someone that would prove capable of bettering the company and employee morale. Of course it was all bullshit, but hey, he doesn't know that. I went to my classes afterward same as always. But for some reason I was incredibly exhausted when I finished my last class. It was worse than when I crashed after getting 4 hours of sleep over 5 days (A/N: True story. Don't fucking do it. It took me a month to get my sleeping schedule back on track). As soon as I walked into my apartment, I collapsed onto the floor. As my consciousness began to fade, I whispered aloud "What the hell is happening to me?"
