Requiem in Garnet

by Belladonna Jaide

Silver sceptre, garnet globe

Requiem in scarlet rose.

The damsel dressed in darkness

Requiem in red.

Meioh Setsuna is dead.

A burial shroud of ebony satin is drawn across her head.

She rests upon a chilly bier hewn from jet-black stone

The Solitary Soldier has died alone.

Always, alone.

She lies in her tomb, arms crossed over her chest,

Still and cold and pale like porcelain, she sleeps her eternal rest.

Shifting shadows, garnet gleam

Soul wandering in clouded dream.

Dark Queen fallen to Death's caress.

No mortal blood was bled,

Yet Meioh Setsuna is dead.

A burial shroud of ebony satin's been drawn across her head.

Notes:  I have no idea where this came from, or what spawned it. Obviously, it's about the death and/or funeral of Sailor Pluto. I must have written it when I was particularly depressed or something, though I don't think I was… I guess I was just inspired, that's all. It's kinda sad, isn't it? The title Requiem in Garnet seemed to fit the poem, even though the exact phrase itself isn't even in the poem, so that's why I named it what I did… that, and because I couldn't think of something better to call it. ^^" Anyways, please leave a review. I wrote this using an odd rhyme scheme, and I'm not sure if I like how it came out… what do you think? Comments? Write a review. Questions? e-mail me (sailorpluto66@sailorvenus.org). Want more? (actually, I had originally intended to add more to this, like Setsuna's journey beyond death or something. You know, like through the underworld? In many myths and lore from around the world, death is only the beginning of our journey, and I thought it would be cool to do a Setsuna-beyond-death,-who-journeys-through-the-Underworld story, with all these mythological references – the whole thing in rhyming verse, of course!) Well, anyways, if you want more, let me know! I absolutely love to explore Setsuna's character, and will take any excuse I can to do so! ^^

Ja!~

…and remember – leave a review!
