On occasion, she caught him staring at her.

But everyone knew he stared at her.

Only on occasion, of course though.

At least, that's what he told everyone.

And on occasion, someone would believe him.

Not most of the time, though.

He stared at her every single day.

And on occasion, she caught him in the act.

But only on occasion.

Because on occasion, Tawni told her he was doing it.

And on occasion, she would turn around and look, just to check and see, of course.

And true to Tawni's word, there he would be, staring at her like she would disappear in a moment and he had to make sure he one good look at her before she was gone.

She would smile at him and wave carefully.

And he would turn away from she saw his smile.

So she never saw his smile.

But everyone else saw it and they smiled too.

Because seeing him smile for a person, and not a camera meant something/

They just didn't quite know what it meant at that time.

Tawni knew, because Tawni always knew things like that.

It was just programmed into the way Tawni's brain worked.

But on occasion, she let some things slip away from her point of view.

Because while Tawni may have noticed him staring at Sonny, she never noticed how Sonny would stare at him when he wasn't look.

But she he wasn't staring at Sonny, Sonny stared at him.

And on occasion, he caught her.

And he would smirk a little.

And when she saw that he saw, she would blush and turn away from him as quickly as was humanly possible.

And all Tawni saw was his smirk as she stared at her.

But Tawni was dumb, she could tell what was happening.

Even though she didn't see all of it, she still saw it.

And she knew it would come one day.

That's why she wasn't surprised when it happened.

He burst into the dressing room she shared with Sonny looking for all the world like he could do anything in that moment in time.

And Tawni knew what he needed.

So she got up and left the room.

And came back with Sonny trailing behind her.

"Proceed," Tawni told him quickly.

"What is it?" Sonny asked finally when he hadn't said anything.

Chad Dylan Cooper glared at her, looking like he might pull his hair out of his skull had it not been held down by pounds of gel, mouse, and hairspray.

Then he took a single deep breath and confessed.

"I'm in love with you, Sonny Munroe. Happy?"

And he turned on his heel and walked out before either Sonny or Tawni could say anything about it.

So Sonny turned around, smiling, and slowly walked back to her room.

And Tawni smiled to herself.

Because whether they acknowledged it or not, she had so seen it coming.

And on occasion, he still bursts into that room.

Just to tell Sonny something.

And Sonny will smile and laugh and lightly kiss him on the lips.

And then they'll walk out of the room together.

And Tawni watches them as they go, knowing that no one will ever love her as much as Chad Dylan Cooper loves Sonny Munroe.

Which is to say, a lot.

Because even though Tawni Hart has the hair, the face, and the clothes, and the looks, there is something that she will never truly be.

Happy.

So she turns back to her mirror silently.

Knowing that for her,

Seeing others happy is just about as good as it gets.
