"Remind me again... Why am I the only one lugging all this crap upstairs?" Faith asked as she picked up yet another large box from the back of their U-haul. Her breath, faintly visible in the cool autumn air, hung before her eyes for a few fleeting seconds. Damn, it was cold here. She'd forgotten exactly how cold after all those years in Cali. She'd gotten soft.
"Because you love me" Dawn said smugly, adding another smaller box on top of the first one. "Besides, I promised to make it up to you later remember?" she reminded the Slayer with a lusty wink. Faith hid her smirk behind the boxes, making a show of hefting them up in her arms and headed back upstairs. Aint love grand?
The tiny apartment on the second floor was rapidly filling with their stuff and Faith panicked for a minute that all their stuff wouldn't fit into the place. Where were they going to put everything?
After getting out of jail she'd become something of a packrat and she we loath to give any of it up, even for a crosscountry move. So all her stuff, plus all of Dawn's stuff, equaled a hell of a lot of stuff!
"You think we should get a storage unit or something?" Dawn asked from behind Faith, looking at the mountains of cardboard in their apartment. There was hardly a clear spot in the entire place.
Faith dropped what she was carrying on top of another large box and swooped Dawn up into her arms. "How do you always do that?" Faith asked, fighting her way through the maze, heading toward the bedroom. She smiled and kissed Dawn on the lips before depositing her onto the bed.
"Do what?" Dawn asked, laughing. She looked amazingly sexy like that, her chest bobbing slightly with the motion of the bed, and Faith just wanted to ravage her then and there, bed sheets be damned!
Instead she leaned in close and said "Always know exactly what to do, or say, to get me to calm down when I'm stressing over some stupid little thing." punctuating the sentence with a few feather-light kisses.
Decidedly dazed, Dawn gazed up at Faith for a moment. "Because I know you." she said, softly. Lifting a hand she tangled her fingers within Faith's dark mane, tugging her down for a proper kiss.
Faith lay full atop her, giving in to the lure of her remarkable girlfriend, and soon neither she nor Dawn remembered that they had other things to do today.
At least for a while.
