"I'm just looking out for your best interests," Andy said sincerely. He wanted to protect her, maybe it wasn't coming across but his intentions were nothing if not heartfelt.

"I've been looking out for my own interests for a very long time Andy. I don't need you for that," Sharron said seriously, she was not one to show weakness. She couldn't stand anyone to think of her as vulnerable, but Andy had found someway to bypass her defences. It terrified her.

"Okay," Andy said turning away. Then in some inexplicable moment of courage turned to face her again asking, "so what do you need me for?"

Sharon's breath caught in her throat. She stopped herself from answering immediately, saying 'nothing', or worse the truth. "Close the door, let's talk," she said, refusing to lose her composure as he smirked at her. She knew what she needed to say. He sat down in the chair opposite her. "Andy, we can't be anything, I'm your boss and we work together." It was only part of the reason, but she wasn't about the admit she was afraid of getting hurt. His grin dropped slightly, "I don't see what's wrong with spending more time together, you need someone to just be yourself around."

"Andy I'm fine really. I appreciate that you have good intentions but a romance is out of the question."

"Is dating out of the question?"

Sharon looked down, "it was a mistake Andy."

"Sharon you let your guard down, and it didn't make you any less strong, any less formidable, or any less respectable. It just made you more you," Andy said, his cheeks slightly pink, "and I like you.". Sharon met his eyes, not being able to help the smiling at his sweet words.

"What are you suggesting Andy?"

"Just that I'm here for you, to be your friend or more than that."

Sharon stomach fluttered at the possibility with what she couldn't determine were nerves or excitement.

"Maybe dating doesn't have to be out of the question," she ventured hesitantly. Andy's smirk reappeared. Sharon internally cursed herself for barely being able to think when he looked at her like that.

"Does that mean you'll be free for a movie next week?" Andy asked.

"Maybe...as long as you stop looking out for my best interests at work."

Andy stood, "no problem Captain."

He exited her office and even though his back was now to her she would bet anything that he was wearing that same boyish grin. Looking down she couldn't help but shake her head smiling. She had a date with Andy Flynn.
